Aimee McLaughlin is a photographer and ceramicist based in Portland, Maine. She concentrates on analogue photography (film is fun) and approaches picture making with a playful and documentary style. Delighted by a diverse range of subjects, she aspires to make images that feel familiar and lavish, candid and intimate. Her eye is greatly influenced by a love for cinema, travel, art history, and a belief in kismet (fate is also fun).

From a young age, I've had a vivid imagination and a love for storytelling. I would capture everything I saw in my mind, using those images as the backdrop for my stories. This passion eventually led me to pursue a degree in Film and Photography. After graduating, I spent a few years as a volunteer missionary, traveling across the country. These travels allowed me to broaden my photography and filmmaking skills by experiencing and capturing diverse parts of the world. During this time, I also began photographing weddings and portraits, quickly falling in love with this aspect of my work and continuing to shoot ever since.
