I was born and raised in a quiet seaside town on the South Shore of Long Island. I grew up in a place where good, strong love grows with parents who have been together since they were 16 years old. They taught me that true love grows in the face of hardship and, as strong believers in their faith, that love is, indeed, patient and kind. And so as soon as I realized that wedding photography didn’t have to be posed and mechanical; that I could shoot weddings from a more organic and authentic lens; that I could document a story, not direct one, I was hooked!

“Having a good photographer was one of my priorities for my wedding. I knew the day was going to be a whirlwind and I wanted to be able to look back and at least have one photo where my eyes weren’t closed or something. Lauren absolutely delivered — I don’t think we’ve ever looked as good in pictures and I know I probably won’t again!! Lauren also recommended Elizabeth for our day-of coordinator and I don’t know what we would have done without her — I definitely would have lost my mind, of that I’m sure. First, I can’t overstate the importance of finding a photographer with whom you have a good rapport — Lauren has this charisma where you instantly feel at ease and like you’ve known her your whole life. It frankly made me less nervous and I think that translates really well in the photos. She’s also a master of making you look the best in posed photos - giving little positioning directions that you look elegant without looking stiff. Every time I look at the pictures I’ll notice another candid moment that Lauren managed to capture or simply marvel at how she somehow can translate emotion in a still picture — I find myself smiling and definitely not crying (jk definitely crying) because you can FEEL what we were feeling in these photos. Second, get you a planner who is superhuman. Elizabeth took over six weeks (!) before the wedding and it was like a literal weight was lifted from my shoulders. At our first meeting she went through her checklist (and mine bc of course I had my own) and said “I’ll take care of it” to literally everything... and then...did?? I was fully prepared to have to follow up with vendors and micromanage but I basically didn’t have to do anything. It was magical. Elizabeth and her team did so much work and went above and beyond in literally every way to ensure we had a perfect day. Anyway, if you’re struggling with choosing a photographer because there are 72525 million to choose from, and you like the style of Lauren’s photos, go for it ASAP. Lauren is incredible and I feel so lucky that we were able to work with her. And if you need a day-of coordinator (or a full blown wedding planner!) pick Elizabeth - she has the eye for design and the capability to pull it off and pull it off well!”

“Words cannot define the worth and joy it was to have Kawania and her team be a part of my wedding day. She was a constant advocate for our needs and budget throughout the process, being realistic at every turn. What I know now is that what you get with Kawania is experience and know-how of the industry. She has planned several weddings and events before and knows how to troubleshoot mishaps that may happen on the wedding day in real time. She understands that the day of the event is a special moment for everyone involved and she knows not to bring stress to the wedding party and to allow them to live in the moment. At subsequent weddings, I have felt that my friends needed this approach with their planners on their wedding day/weekend. I, being their guest or in their bridal party felt the disorganization that their planners or self-planning brought. This was not the case with Kawania. We had glowing comments about our wedding day for even a year after and how it was not just a ceremony but a day of entertainment. She is an excellent communicator. We had regular meetings throughout the year, about once a week. I have seen my friends have wedding planners who do not get back to them for several days after they have a question about their wedding. Kawania brought my vendors to me instead of me having to look for vendors on my own and when one did not work she always had another one that could take the place. She set up meetings with me and my vendors one-on-one and reviewed all of our vendor contracts to make sure that we were getting a fair contract and that expectations for the vendor and for us were both reasonable and what we were looking for. Being a very busy working professional I appreciated that Kawania went above and beyond to make sure that I stayed on the schedule and was extremely patient when there were moments when I could not. I value how she brought my vision to life and had such great attention to small details that my day was exceptional. I have seen my guests feature elements of my wedding at their subsequent events and it speaks to how she was able to set the bar high for what a classy and unique event should be. Far beyond a wedding planner, she has become someone that I keep in contact with after the wedding. She even checked in on me when there was a major catastrophic event that took place in the area where I lived months after the wedding. There were even moments when I became uncertain or stressed and focused on the wrong thing when it came to my wedding. Kawania, quite like a mother figure helped me realize what my focus should be and to ignore all other distractions so that when I walked down the aisle, I was in full confidence of how the day was going to be and did not feel a single ounce of stress on my wedding day. I could not be more thrilled to work with Kawania again. Although I do not see myself getting remarried I would certainly work with her for any big event I needed in the future. She has such a positive energy and global about her and brings a light to every interaction even difficult ones that makes her pleasant, respectable, dependable, and all around the absolute reason why my big day went off such success. I cannot state how tirelessly she and her team worked so when I did meet them in person but felt like I was meeting friends who knew exactly what I wanted. You will not regret working with Kawania and Howerton Wooten events!”

“Create You Events was the reason why our dream wedding became a reality!! My husband and I consider ourselves to be good planners, and like other couples, we thought we could make do without a wedding planner. We were only looking for a day-of coordinator when we reached out to Create You Events. We interviewed Vicky and realized the value she could provide us throughout the planning process. We quickly changed our stance and hired her as both our day-of coordinator and wedding planner. This was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. The amount of time and mental energy saved was beyond worth it. Vicky and her team's guidance kept us on schedule and organized during our nine-month timeline. Vicky was able to handle all obstacles in stride. No challenge was ever too big for her, and that calmed many of our nerves. What sets Vicky and her team apart is their ability to complement the areas that my husband and I lacked. We were transparent with those aspects which we weren't as prepared for and our budget constraints, and they would always found solutions or presented us with alternatives that met our needs. There were countless times when Vicky would save the day by bringing up things that we wouldn't even consider! She was great with vendor management and helped identify vendors that fit our criteria. In addition to Create You Events' planning and coordination service, we also opted for their decor services. What was the most dreaded part of planning for us was no longer a challenge. Trust me when I say they made all of our worries go away when it came to decor and signage. We were able to provide our vision and they delivered on every little detail. The arrangements and signage fit the elegance of our theme and venue perfectly. It was a huge benefit having a team that already understood our vision and was attentive to every request. Where do I begin for the day-of coordination? Vicky and her team were the calming force to our chaotic day. We wanted to maximize our day, so we planned our timeline down to the minute. From their planning, they set up our day so that we didn't have to make any major decisions. All we had to do was follow the timeline they put together for us. This allowed us to enjoy our day and appreciate the little moments we would have otherwise missed. Even when things that were out of our control went array, Vicky and her team didn't even flinch from the pressure and were quick to find a resolution, having no impact on our day. Simply put, we couldn't have had a perfect day without the involvement from Create You Events. The planning, decor, and coordination was stress free for us and allowed us to allocate our time to other areas that required more of our individual attention. Vicky and her team were incredibly easy to work with and we felt comfortable enough to share all of our circumstances with her. We will always give the highest recommendation to Create You Events to our friends and family for their wedding and/or any major event. We are still left in awe by how they were able to listen to our vision and run with it. We definitely won't miss wedding planning, but will miss our planning calls with Vicky. “We contacted Sweet Edible Print after finding it listed on the Zola vendor website for Cakes and Desserts. Our wedding had a "Paris on the Potomac" theme and we wanted wedding favors for our guests that would align with our theme. We consulted with the SEP team on the types and flavors of macarons that we were interested in having and also provided them with our Eiffel Tower design which they were able to match perfectly! The SEP team was able to match our "French blue and white" color scheme and the flavors were delicious! Our guests were impressed with the beautiful design, packaging and various flavors of the macarons. We ordered the "Love on Top" package which allowed us to have a macaron tower during our rehearsal dinner and also to include individually wrapped macarons in each of our wedding guest gift bags.
