Mad Art Gallery is housed in the former Third District Police Station, a wonderfully renovated example of 1930s Art Deco architecture nested in the historic neighborhood of Soulard. The gallery is an award winning venue boats 17,000 square feet of terrazzo floors and marble hallways. The former squad car garage is now a stunning 3,800 sq feet gallery space equipped with state of the art lighting. Everything that made this space a working police station still lives at Mad Art. Edwards Place, built in 1833, was a social center of antebellum Springfield. In its gracious parlors Abraham Lincoln, Stephen Douglas, Ulysses S. Grant, and other Illinois luminaries gathered at elegant parties and balls. You, too, can have your special day in the same rooms where Abraham and Mary Lincoln were guests more than 150 years ago, now meticulously restored to the grandeur of their antebellum days.
