It seems lost on some videographers what this day is that we film and what our role on that day should be. Although not nearly as exhilarating as filming through the night or in the heat of a desert on a cliff with incredibly talented friends pushing each other to learn and grow, I still get to experience the pre-production, production, and post-production of a film shoot.

We are Jim and Melissa Lakey, a husband and wife wedding filmmaker team. We love shooting weddings in the desert that we call our home — Joshua Tree and Palm Springs — but we’re also partial to weddings at the beach. And in the woods. And in the city. We’re pretty sure we’d love shooting in Hawaii, too, if anyone would like to put that to the test with us.

I chose weddings because I love to capture emotions. They are rare and candid in weddings, which you’ll never find elsewhere.
