“A few months before my summer 2024 wedding, I was struggling to find a makeup artist in Boston experienced with Asian faces. My bridal party and I are mixed-race Asian, and after an unsuccessful trial with another artist, we realized we needed someone skilled in techniques that complement Asian features. We found Fei Xu's website, and though she was booked, two team members, Yuki and Priceless, were available. They created stunning, personalized looks for all of us, closely following our inspiration photos and feedback to ensure we were happy with the results. For my bridal hair, I changed my mind from the half-updo look I had done at the trial and opted instead for a vintage pin-curl style on the wedding day. Yuki used authentic pin-curl techniques to craft the old Hollywood look I envisioned—something other stylists had not been able to do with the same reference photos during previous trials. Michelle is a fantastically talented hair stylist, and wonderful person. She worked magic on my hair, and brought my inspiration to life in a way that was both elegant and ethereal. She was so easy to work with, and was very thorough at the trial, which put my nerves to ease. She’s quite literally like a sculptor with hair, and it was amazing to watch her work. We had 7 people getting their hair done - 2 brides, 2 bridesmaids, 2 flowergirls, and a guest - and she took care with each one, and everyone’s hair came out beautifully.
