“A few months before my summer 2024 wedding, I was struggling to find a makeup artist in Boston experienced with Asian faces. My bridal party and I are mixed-race Asian, and after an unsuccessful trial with another artist, we realized we needed someone skilled in techniques that complement Asian features. We found Fei Xu's website, and though she was booked, two team members, Yuki and Priceless, were available. They created stunning, personalized looks for all of us, closely following our inspiration photos and feedback to ensure we were happy with the results. For my bridal hair, I changed my mind from the half-updo look I had done at the trial and opted instead for a vintage pin-curl style on the wedding day. Yuki used authentic pin-curl techniques to craft the old Hollywood look I envisioned—something other stylists had not been able to do with the same reference photos during previous trials. My makeup also held up beautifully through the entire day and night and remained beautiful and luminous even after getting sweaty on the dance floor! Overall, we were blown away by the skill of Fei's team and would highly recommend their services.”

“Caitlin did an amazing job. To begin with, she was very sweet, communicative, and helpful in the early part of the process. I do not wear a lot of makeup and don't know much about it, but she guided me through every step, even outlining the sorts of searches I could on Pinterest to find examples I liked. She made me feel confident that she understood what I was comfortable with even though we could not have a pre-bridal appointment due to distance. Then, on day of, Caitlin went above and beyond. She arrived ahead of schedule, brought everything she needed, provided lots of goodies, attention and skincare, and delivered a stellar makeup. To note, it was an insanely hot and humid summer day in New York (91 degrees and 85% humidity). I don't know what magic Caitlin worked on my face, but the makeup stayed on ALL DAY AND NIGHT. It was so astounding that almost every single guest commented on it (everyone else was sweating their faces off—sorry!). I looked like an elevated version of myself and was so so happy with it. “When my fiancée and I thought about what was important to us when choosing a photographer for our big day in Rhode Island, we were looking for someone with bright and romantic style, someone who knew how to pose/shoot plus size bodies, and more importantly someone who was engaged with my partner and I in the planning process. We found all of that and more in Yesenia. From the jump, Yesenia knew exactly what we were looking for. As a plus size bride it was important to me that our photographer show that they understand how to pose/shoot larger bodies. Yesenia sent me a message and directed me to several examples in her portfolio and calmed all of my insecurities. She also asked really thoughtful questions and gave us lots of tips throughout the planning process. Seriously- her guidance/organization was more helpful than a lot of the “how to” guides out there. We did a mini engagement session and wedding photography with Yesenia, and in each of those moments I appreciated her clear direction/guidance as she helped us get so many beautiful shots. Her strong communication also extended to all of the vendors we had hired for our special day. By putting your trust in her she can truly create magic. Yesenia was also very transparent about how/when to expect follow up to both communications and when galleries were expected to be delivered. “Hiring Katie for our wedding photos was our best decision! We would hire her again in a heartbeat. For the entire year-and-a-half that my fiancé (now husband) were engaged, Katie met with us periodically on the phone to check in about specific topics such as scheduling or a family photos “shoot list”. We got our initial response within a couple days of sending our inquiry, then met on Zoom that week to meet her. She asked about our relationship, our personalities, etc. to get to know us, which was great and made everything more personal. It was easy to book a second shooter through Katie to get more photos, since she will find and contact another professional photographer for you, which is a step out of the way while you’re busy wedding planning! Our wedding day/photos being taken: What we loved about Katie is that her photography style is that her photos don’t feel awkward or too posed, and they feel more journalistic. There will of course be lots of formal portraits of the couple and wedding party, but Katie does an amazing job to get genuine smiles and laughs out of everyone. She is super funny, kind, and down-to-earth. Katie got along great with the wedding party and made everyone feel a lot more relaxed on our wedding day. Photographers are such an important part of the wedding day and keep the day going smoothly and on-time, and Katie did an exceptional job. Our edited photos: My husband and I were in LOVE with our edited photos from both our wedding and our engagement photoshoot. I am usually not the biggest fan of photos of myself, but when I looked through our wedding photos, I loved every single one. We immediately put together photo albums for our parents and had such a hard time picking our favorites! We would put all 1000+ photos in there if we could. I still look at these photos almost daily, and can’t wait to have nicely framed ones in our house. Professionalism: Lastly Katie was extremely professional. She wrote a contract, kept notes of everything so that nothing was forgotten, and was always on time or early for everything.
