I began playing for weddings in 2013 and have continued to do so ever since. I started Overtone in 2024 because I felt a desire to bridge the gap between couples and musicians. Karen Burciaga is a versatile string player who performs throughout New England. As a violinist, she is in demand for weddings, parties, church services and many other events. She often collarbones with other musicians on guitar, cello, harp, bagpipes and more. As an early music specialist on baroque violin, viola, and viola da gamba, she has appeared with numerous period ensembles. Karen holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN) and a Master of Music from the Longy School of Music (Cambridge, MA). In addition to making and teaching music, Karen also enjoys English, Baroque, vintage and folk dance.
