You generally only get one wedding, which means going into the day without knowing about a lot of the tiny details that go into making a wedding run smoothly. You do the research, you read the blogs, you study your friends' weddings and get tons of advice, but still you don't know what it's really like. The staff at Deity do--they do this every day. I could write about how great the space is, how much fun everyone had, and how reasonable the price was, and I'll get to all of that, but I want to emphasize what the pictures can't. Our wedding day ran smoothly and comfortably for us and our guests, and it's due to the staff at Deity. They anticipated our needs, gave us lots of helpful advice in both the planning stages and the day of, and went above and beyond to make sure we had the wedding we wanted. Anna, the coordinator, answered my endless emails and asked even more questions that hadn't occurred to me, and on the day of she handled everything so seamlessly I actually got to enjoy myself; Caio, the owner, gave our officiant (my brother) tips about when to move the mic for the smoothest possible ceremony, and made sure my train looked perfect right when I first stepped out into the aisle; and none of the staff batted an eye when I came down an hour before the guests were arriving to say I needed help hiding clues for a scavenger hunt that I had not told them I was planning. They made sure my husband and I got something to eat and a quiet moment to ourselves, they helped us load an Uber at almost midnight on a Sunday with all the stuff we'd brought. They made the whole day feel seamless and fun, and I cannot thank them enough. Also, so many of my guests made a point to tell me how good the food was. I'll admit, I was a little nervous about committing to the in-house catering without a tasting (we were lucky enough to get a sample from Chef James on our initial tour), but my fears were entirely unfounded. The passed appetizers were genuinely amazing, and the food served at the family-style dinner was tasty and actually hot, which I feel like is rare amongst weddings I've been to. They also were very helpful in accommodating our guests with dietary restrictions, including coordinating an order from a restaurant for a celiac guest, whom their kitchen wasn't equipped to serve. The bar was also great, helped us come up with custom cocktails, and there was cocktail service everywhere, including on the dance floor. When I factored in the food and drink to the total cost we paid for Deity, it's also a really good deal, compared to other local catering options! I won't say too much about the space because you can see it in the pictures and judge the vibe for yourself on a tour. But I will say that having different spaces for the different parts of the event was great, and having the suite for getting ready (and for retreating to when we needed a moment) was a godsend--not to mention wonderful for our photos! Sunset skyine photos without leaving the venue? Don't mind if I do! The location was great for both our in town guests, and those staying at nearby hotels. If you like the look of Deity, don't hesitate. I hope your wedding there turns out just as wonderful as ours!

The Milling Room

5.0

New York, NY
  • Up to 125 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor
  • Starts at $5,000

The Milling Room features seasonal, locally sourced American cuisine served in a stunning sky-lit dining room and lively tavern-inspired bar in the heart of the Upper West Side. The Milling Room opened in November 2014 and occupies the space which was originally built in 1890 as the luxurious Endicott Hotel. When the original hotel opened, it was described as "in all respects, the finest and best appointed in this part of the city." Designed by Edward Angell, who also designed several other prominent buildings on the Upper West Side, and built by Charles A. Fuller, the hotel was crafted out of Pompeian brick and terracotta, including a glass-roofed Palm Room where today in its place is The Milling Room. Directly down the street from Central Park's Hunter's Gate, The Milling Room sits in the heart of the Upper West Side. The building sits between 81st and 82nd St. on Columbus Avenue, diagonal from the American Museum of Natural History.

We got married at The Milling Room on 12/9/23, with our family and closest friends in attendance (109 people). The entire team did a great job throughout the event. We were thrilled with how everything turned out. It's difficult to find a restaurant on the UWS that can accommodate a traditional ceremony and serve 110 people for dinner. The Milling Room did it so well! We would choose this venue all over again.

We recently hosted our wedding at 501 Union in June 2024. The staff at 501 Union were exceptional from start to finish. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care for our wedding day made everything run smoothly. Our event manager, Abby, was always available to answer questions and provided so much guidance throughout the planning process. She was fantastic! Since Bacchus inception on April 17th, 2003, the bistro has been an integral part of our operations. Expect to be charmed by an aura of accentuated Eurocentric energies from the moment you step inside, either through our friendly staff or an atmosphere bustling with patrons, wine pours & classic to contemporary French dishes. With its “cul de sac” facade, the bistro leads to an alluring outdoor garden where a plethora of vows have been ceremoniously exchanged “pun intended!!”

Get married at Bacchus! We had our wedding reception here in October, and it was absolutely perfect. Beautiful, intimate, simple aesthetic and Meryl and Bruno are extremely kind and accommodating. Very affordable pricing, so happy we did it!

Ace Hotel Brooklyn

5.0

Brooklyn, NY
  • Up to 120 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor

Situated in the heart of trendy Brooklyn, the Ace Hotel lives up to its borough’s stylish reputation. Its eye-catching interior combines industrial elements that nod to the grand modernist architectural tradition. Such lofty design is in turn grounded by the use of warm, upscale, and tactile materials throughout. Wooden finishes soften the raw concrete of its ceilings, while comfortable furnishings invite your guests to sit back and relax. With multiple skylights throughout everything is cast in relief with striking shadows creating a sense of depth as you wander through the building. Your guests will be equally impressed by the large-scale artworks that punctuate the hotel’s decor, paying homage to the area’s artistic roots. Due to its central location, it is a convenient choice that benefits from New York City’s extensive domestic and international travel networks. In the days surrounding the ceremony, you and your loved ones can take in the charming neighborhood of Boerum Hill.

Planning a Brooklyn wedding is no small feat but The Ace Hotel Brooklyn not only made my wedding vision come to life but exceeded my expectations! The team had amazing communication and answered all my many questions with ease. I planned my wedding myself and hired a day of coordinator only because the Ace were so easy to work with. Not only is the space beautiful but the staff are so kind and the food from their restaurant was beyond great. My guests were so happy. I would highly suggest having them handle your cake as well because it’s all made in house and I sent them my inspiration and they knocked it out of the park! Because they handle so much I was able to focus on smaller details and design for the day that made it feel extra special. I will tell anyone who asks if they are looking to get married to check out the Ace Hotel Brooklyn! Ashllyn, Auri, Cindy & Paul absolutely smashed it - couldn’t have asked for a better weekend!

Crystal Plaza

5.0

Livingston, NJ
  • Up to 350 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $40,000

Before it became our beloved event venue, the historic Crystal Plaza was originally a residential mansion. The initial Livingston, New Jersey-based residence was built in the late 1800s by famed architect Stanford White, who was responsible for designing the Tiffany building on Fifth Avenue, the original Madison Square Garden complex among other landmark structures. While the restored building has since been reincarnated as one of the leading wedding and event spaces in the tri-state area, it still maintains the feeling of its 19th century grandeur. Our impeccable, white-glove service begins the moment you arrive. Crystal Plaza hosts only one event at a time, ensuring that our dedicated team focuses singularly on you and your every need. From the elegant Grand Ballroom boasting numerous chandeliers (how the Crystal Plaza name came to be) to the lush gardens that change beautifully with the seasons, there are myriad backdrops to complement your wedding, social affair or corporate event.

The elegance and charm of Crystal Plaza's classic and ornate decor is met with delicious, modern and creative food that makes it the perfect balance for an epic event. And to top it off, their service leading up to and on the day of a wedding is so meticulous that all aspects of the event are 100% covered. They're constantly innovating their menu and looking for ways to make an event personal to each couple so you don't have to feel like your wedding is "cookie cutter" in any way. It's truly always a pleasure and so fun working with the Crystal Plaza team.

Five Boroughs Brewing Co.

5.0

Brooklyn, NY
  • Up to 145 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor

Just a quick walk away from the 45th street R train, our taproom is a fantastic venue for weddings, after parties and engagement parties. Our bar offers locally made craft beer, wine, and NA beverages. As we have a New York State Liquor license, we are happy to accommodate cocktails by request and work out a beverage plan that works best for our patrons. Our taproom features 2,500 square feet of usable event space, perfect for a wedding reception, rehearsal dinner, welcome cocktail hour, bridal shower, engagement party or bachelor/bachelorette party. Our event team is happy to work with any prospects to help plan an unforgettable party experience. We currently do not provide food service on site, but would happily aid any patron with finding high quality catering in the area.

We held our wedding reception at Five Boroughs Brewery in October 2023, and we couldn't have been happier! We opted for a combination of seated and standing for our 65 guests, designating the long banquet tables for our families to gather, and the high-top tables for our friends to mix and mingle. There was space in the center of the room for speeches, a musical performance, and reciting our vows before inviting everyone onto the dance floor. Our guests loved the Five Boroughs beers on tap, and they also offered wines and cider, as well as seltzer for non-drinkers. We had catered appetizer platters set up along the wall, and a food truck parked outside. There's also a ramp entrance, which was very helpful for my 93-year-old grandmother. The ambiance in the taproom was warm, intimate, and beautiful even with us opting for very minimal additional decor. The staff was kind, communicative, and helpful every step of the way--the care they took to ensure our wedding went perfectly was really evident. Our Five Boroughs wedding was joyful, intimate, and personal.
