In 1900, Frank D. Stout inherited part of his father’s lumber fortune, moved to Chicago, and within a few years was one of the wealthiest men in the country. Stout's was built in 1903 by Frank D. Stout as a summer retreat for his family and modeled after the famous Adirondack camps. Over the past 25 years, new cabins have been erected and we now have a total of 43 guest rooms on the Island. Imagine a ceremony on the South Lawn with panoramic views of Red Cedar Lake or a tranquil gathering in the former Stout Family master bedroom with a wood-burning fireplace. Stout’s Island Lodge offers an elegant yet relaxed setting with a selection of private event spaces for intimate groups to large tented weddings for up to 175 guests. We invite you to experience the history, comfort, and charm of this remarkable facility. Stout’s Island Lodge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a member of Historic Hotels of America.

A "one-stop-shop" stress-free experience with excellent service is what we offer. Our beautiful Ballroom holds up to 300 guests. We include a two-room suite for the Bride & Groom the night of the Reception, we have a Banquet Manager that runs the event from beginning to end, we set up and tear down all the decorations, all the linens, tables and chairs are included (we will add our chair covers for $2 each) and we include uplighting in the room. We also do a group block for your guests at a discounted rate. We set up a Host and/or Cash Bar at no extra cost. The Ceremony can be held here as well for a small fee. We will need 2 hours between the Ceremony and the Reception to flip the room. Our Pre-Function Area and Patio are ideal for a Cocktail Reception during that time or guests can come back when the Reception opens. Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse caters for our events. Our Chef is very flexible and we offer options for guests with dietary restrictions.

Das Lach Haus offers a modern event center for up to 400 guests! Full catering services and multiple bars available for guests' enjoyment. Take advantage of the large dance floor and stage for entertainment and dancing!
