The language of flowers was introduced to Europe in the early 18th century by Mary Wortley. By that era, almost every flower had a specific meaning attached to it. I always loved flowers growing up but never really gave that part of myself attention as it is not something encouraged for little boys in Grove Hill, Alabama. But love, it’ll change you! It’ll cause you to break past your self-made boundaries and grow. I met Kari Starks and we started dating in 2013. She loved flowers - specifically, yellow tulips. She became my reason to purchase flowers. We got married in 2016 and she then became my reason to arrange flowers. In 2017, I grew bold enough to share an arrangement on Instagram. And I’ve been designing ever since then. Planks & Pistils has flourished because of her love and support.
