The House Then Designed by Daniel Riggs Huntington, a well respected Seattle architect, this replica of George Washington's beloved Mount Vernon home was built in 1925. Employed as the City of Seattle architect from 1912 until 1921, Huntington also designed the Fremont library branch, the Lake Union Steam Plant, several fire stations and the Washington Street Boat Landing. While the Chapter House was "purpose built" as a meeting place, the membership always intended their hospitality to extend to the community in the form of a venue for private, public and non-profit events. The House Now Located on the northwest slope of Capitol Hill in the historic Harvard-Belmont Landmark District, we continue the mission of our visionary founders by offering our house for events ranging from weddings to corporate meetings, memorial services to auctions, baptisms to retirement parties.

The Clubhouse is available to rent for private events, parties, off-sites and much more. You can rent the entire space or rent just the ballroom or the conference room. Now a beautiful & welcoming multi-use venue with a warm vintage style, the Abbey welcomes up to 250 people for events of many varieties including nonprofit galas, private weddings, receptions, parties, meetings, workshops, classes and more. Over the years, this building has been a grocery store, an appliance store, a dance studio, Knights of the Columbus Hall, and for many of the most recent years, the Northwest Costume Shop.

In 1939 the Works Progress Administration built a timbered A-frame gymnasium of local stone and timbers - the beautiful structure that would later become the Longbranch Clubhouse. When the school district consolidated to a larger site, the Longbranch Improvement Club purchased the land and buildings. In 1956 rest rooms, upgraded kitchen facilities and a wooden floor were added. The Longbranch Clubhouse has held an astonishing variety of activities in its colorful history. High school basketball, wartime bandage rolling, huckleberry festivals, fund-raisers, basket socials, Sunday schools and funerals - along with the popular dances and theater events that formed the foundation of this community's social life for generations.
