The son of a 70's soul singer, Maples enjoyed sifting through and listening to his father’s records, 8-tracks and reel-to-reels as a child. Catrese Green (West) got her pseudonym from her grandmother who nicknamed her “Minnesota Fats” because she was a chubby baby. The nickname was shortened to Mini and has stuck with her over the years.
