Christopher Duggan Photography

5.0

Bronx, NY
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $5,950
  • Serves New York, NY

In the 20 years that I've been photographing professionally, I’ve honed my skill of knowing when to step in and make things happen, and when to step back and simply *allow* things to happen. Documenting the REAL emotion of the day is how we capture those picture-perfect moments. They happen organically, not by force, and I promise you: we're not going to miss ANY of them. = )

Awarded Best of Zola
From the moment I got engaged, I knew I wanted Christopher and his team to be a part of mine and my husband's day. I had been lucky enough to see his work beforehand for a family member's wedding he had photographed. The quality of his work was and is stunning. I knew I had wanted someone who understood how important creating and capturing memories was for us and Christopher and his team absolutely delivered that feeling for me. His creative energy and easy-going vibe made him a lot of fun to work with. We love every single photo he took - from the engagement photoshoot to the wedding! What surprised me the most about Chris and his team was how he blended right into the event, sneaking perfect photos while people were enjoying themselves. I've seen a few photographers who need to be right in front to get everything and often it feels either overbearing or uncomfortable but there was none of that with Chris. I was able to enjoy the day without worry that moments were being missed. His professionalism and expertise made the day that much more special to us. We cannot recommend Chris and his team enough!!

I'm a digital & film photographer living in NYC capturing weddings, couples, and life around me. I have a genuine love for creating images you'll look back on that'll always give you butterflies! I approach photography intentionally, and am emotionally driven behind the camera. I’m all about those in-between candids and documenting in the moment, as well as artful posing. I love making genuine connections with people, and the natural friendships that can come from working together! Approaching your wedding photography as an art form is just a small part of why I absolutely love what I do.

Awarded Best of Zola
Rebecca is an incredible artist. She captured the pure joy and love of our wedding day, in a way that was unique, creative, and sweet. It was the exact vibe we were looking for. Not only was the final video beautiful but she is so kind and easy to work with. I can't recommend her enough!!

Steven Rosen Photography

5.0

Brooklyn, NY
  • Fine art style
  • Starts at $2,200
  • Serves New York, NY

I have been a photographer for the last 20 years, shooting weddings, elopements and portraits. I'm proud to have shot more than 150 same-sex weddings, which is probably more than, well, just about anyone. That said, I’ve worked with as many straight couples as LGBTQ ones. I don't discriminate. There are many other photographers whose work inspire me, but my primary inspiration comes from painters. Rembrandt, Vermeer, Sargent, to name a few.

Awarded Best of Zola
I highly recommend Steven. He captured our wedding day with perfection. My husband and I were so happy with our wedding pictures, and we highly recommend him. He has a keen eye and was able to capture us most beautifully. All of our photos exude love and joy on our special day.

I cannot recommend Drzazga Photo enough! When we first met Carly we knew right away she would be so easy to work with, make us feel at ease, and take some really incredible pictures- all of which she went above and beyond to make come true during both our engagement and wedding photos. Communication was always clear and quick, offering us recommendations for other vendors or photo locations, her and Kasey even came to our rehearsal just so they were prepared for the next day. Even a year and a half later I still look through our photos and find a new “favorite one” each time, they’re just that good! We also decided to add on their Videography service closer to our wedding and I’m so so glad we did that. There’s something really special about being able to really hear and see to remember the day. Kasey’s editing was fantastic, he created one of my favorite things to come out of our wedding. Drzazga is definitely the best and will only make your wedding better, easier, and less stressful!

Cesario Mendez Photography

5.0

Washington, DC
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Serves New York, NY

When I am not behind the camera or editing photos, I enjoy short Uber rides to bottomless brunch on the weekends; right now mimosas and I kinda have a thing going on! I have a special relationship with bourbon and FIRMLY believe in putting food on the grill during late afternoons should be the norm. I am blessed to be married to the happiest person on earth (I am so serious), who just happens to double as my favorite person. She keeps me grounded and never fails to remind me how great she is.

Awarded Best of Zola
To work with Cesar and his team was to see and appreciate the professional tone and clarity of communication that is, frankly, totally necessary to do the, at times, cat-herding that is photographing a wedding. To be commanding without being clip, to be concise without being abrupt, and to be authoritative without being rude- that was key to maintaining the effortless air that it takes to get good wedding day photos, both candid and posed, within the unforgiving time frame of a ceremony, replete with all its butterflies and jitters. Every step of the way, we were in good hands with Cesar and his associates. On top of all of this, we are quite happy with the photos, and would recommend Cesario Mendez photography to anyone needing a wedding photographer, anniversary, engagement photographer, etc. Thanks guys!

All the photos turned out lovely. Sophia is also super fun to work with. I'm pretty camera shy but I never felt awkward, she definitely has a great ease about her. Definitely book Sophia, you will be so glad you did!

About wedding photographers in New York, NY

How much does a wedding photographer typically cost in New York, NY?

A New York, NY wedding photographer ranges from $400 to $20,000 and averages at $3,000. The cost reflects the number of hours included, if there is a second photographer, any prints or albums, and, most importantly, the experience of the photographer. But every snapshot they take is a priceless memory of your big day — way better than your bestie's blurry smartphone pics, right?

Do most photographers include a second photographer?

94% of photographers in New York, NY offer a second photographer, although it typically depends on the package you book! Second photographers are helpful because one person can’t be everywhere at once, and the second photographer ensures all the details are covered.

Which are the most popular photographers in New York, NY?

Some of the most popular photographers in this area include The Pros Weddings, SweetEmms Photography and Ashley Cynthia Photography.

What else should I keep in mind when booking a wedding photographer?

Are you interested in an engagement shoot as a test run? Drone photography? Wedding albums? All helpful things to ask about when you’re considering which wedding photographer to book!

What questions should I ask a wedding photographer in NYC?

It can be hard to know exactly what you should be looking for when you’re first exploring wedding photographers. You might want to ask questions like, "How do you capture the essence of 'us'?" or "How do you balance capturing our must have shot list without missing out on unexpected candid moments?" Don't forget the nitty-gritty, either. Inquire about their portfolio, if they've shot at your venue before, and how they navigate New York City’s unpredictable elements (because who hasn't seen a taxi photobomb?). Check out our full list of questions to ask your wedding photographer for even more info.

How long does it take to receive wedding photos in NYC?

Picture this: you've said your vows, had the time of your life at the reception, and now you're back from your honeymoon, eager to relive it all through your photos. But you might need to wait a minute, because good things take time! Most NYC wedding photographers will ask for a 4 to 8-week grace period to finalize your photos. They're carefully sifting through the raw emotions and dance-floor shenanigans to deliver a gallery that's as epic as your love story. We know how eager you are to relive those moments, but your stunning snaps will be worth the wait.

How many images are typically included in a wedding photo package?

Wedding photo packages in NYC are as varied as the city itself, but on average, you might see anything from 300 to 700 finished photos. But hey, it’s not just about quantity, it’s the heart-stopping, tear-jerking quality that counts. Make sure to chat with your photographer about what's important to you – maybe it's those candid laughs during the toast or that magical first dance. So, whether you’re aiming for a minimalist album or an epic visual novella of your day, rest assured you'll have enough photos to keep your memories fresh and your heart full!

Are engagement sessions typically included in wedding photography packages in New York City?

Looking for a photographer to capture the excitement of your engagement, too? Look no further. Many New York wedding photographers bundle engagement photo sessionsinto your wedding package, or will add them on at a reduced rate. It's like a romantic pre-game show where you and your SO can get over some of the camera-shyness. Plus, it's a fantastic way to test the waters with your photographer before the big day so you can make sure they’re a perfect fit (and to capture some great shots for your save the dates!).
