“Josh had our whole wedding dancing all night. With really creative mixing, he was able to blend in so many different genres seamlessly. Most importantly, he was really attuned to the crowd's energy and was great about knowing when to play a song in full and when to just tease us with quick samples. If you're looking for someone who really listens to what you want, instead of playing just the same 30 songs you hear at every wedding, Josh is your DJ. The music selection process is easy - in addition to check-in calls and zooms, he uses an app, so you can build you can craft the perfect playlist ahead of time. We both really enjoyed adding songs to our app throughout the planning process. But the best was actually hearing the way he was able to combine so many of our favorite songs for our reception party. He had all our of guests (ages ranging from 10 to over 80 years old) dancing all night long. Our first comment from friends the day after our wedding was about how fun they had on the dance floor and how great the music was! I also think its important to add that Josh handled our wedding ceremony music, cocktail music, dinner music and sparkler exits as well- he provided mics, sounds systems, everything we needed, and all of those were executed perfectly. He was on time for set-up, very respectful of the rules/guidelines in places at our historic venue, and he collaborated really well with our other vendors to make sure everything looked and sounded perfect. Also he is just the nicest guy- really responsive on email and genuine- which was so, so appreciated during tho last few chaotic months of wedding planning. 10/10 - highly recommend.”

“Despite all of the planning and all your, and everyone else’s best efforts, things will not go as expected at your wedding, and that is just a cold, hard, truth. They can go unexpectedly in a great direction, or they could become annoyances, catastrophes, or disappointments. Or, you can hire Zach Book, and every unexpected moment, even the ones that initially seemed disastrous, turn into something purely magical. Long story short, lots had to be changed to our outdoor wedding due to rain. Zach rolled with all the changes and then some. He crouched behind a small room divider during our ceremony when we had to relocate it to under the tent onto his DJ stage, allowing us to still get the perfect moments with our officiant. He coordinated with three performers that we had in order to have their songs and backing tracks ready for aerial performances, live singing, and lip-synching. At one point in the night our generator went out, and by some stroke of genius he had a portable boom box that he held above his head, blasting “It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay” by Whitney Houston while our friend, a drag queen, lip synched illuminated by only cell phone light as she projected beautiful and ethereal shadows onto the tent wall. There are photos of my best man, also holding the boombox above his head, in what is one of my favorite wedding photos. The rain stressed me out so much, as did all of the changes we had to make last minute to plan around it - and the generator going out could have been a night-ending moment. Instead, the party went on, more unexpected, more perfect, more “us” than possible. Our speeches and cake cutting occurred way later than scheduled and he was still ready for the moment and right on track. When a less-than-sober family member delivered a rambling speech, he played hilarious Oscar-style send-off music that cut the tension and gave us a perfect moment of levity that we can use to deliver some good-natured ribbing for the rest of our lives. He somehow coordinated with my mother on the day of the wedding to allow her to fake me out with a slow song briefly before our planned up-beat mother/son dance. He showed up early. He sent us a playlist the day-of for getting ready to that was an upbeat primer to the night’s music. He wore a costume that perfectly fit our playful and Halloween-centric theme (and also matched the processional music which we chose, which was a song by the Muppets.) He brought extra microphones. He understood our sort of quirky and unique assignment for wedding vibes, and he fed off our energy, and he gave us things to add in that we hadn’t even considered. And the vibes were immaculate. The real sorcery is probably that there isn’t any sorcery at all; Zach both listened to us and has the compassion to understand what we really needed; what decisions were perfect for our spooky/sexy/joyous/riotous wedding. What felt like miracles were probably just his incredible ability to feed off the energy of a crowd, to understand what we wanted as a couple, and to have the foresight to plan ahead for unexpected occurrences. However, in the moment, it truly felt like magic. If none of what I described sounds like what you want from your wedding, don’t worry - I have full faith that Zach matches your energy and your desires and delivers based on what put forward. He’s kind and considerate and fun and prompt and delightful. One of the true highlights was working with, and ultimately experiencing, Zach Book.”

“If someone asked me nicely to go dance my heart out in 90 degree heat, I would probably refuse. If someone tried to bribe me to get out on the floor in near tropical levels of humidity and sweltering, oppressive temperatures, it would take a hefty sum. And yet, twice now I have seen Jeremy get not just me, but over one hundred people to move our feet to the expertly curated beats and harmonies, ignoring the heat in what were inarguably the best dance parties I have had the joy of participating in. My wife discovered Jeremy after I struck out in my search to find adequate music for our wedding. After wading through a sea of ridiculous quotes, flaky DJ's, and logistical nightmares involving the transportation of bands, I gave up entirely. So when my wife explained that she had found a DJ with extremely reasonable rates and fantastic reviews, I was in disbelief. But then, she played for me a sample mix that Jeremy had put together for a HIIT class and it was pure musical magnificence. We hired him soon after. Jeremy was prompt and polite in communications, knowledgeable, unforgettably friendly, and above all else the master of the party's vibe. He managed to blend Beyonce with MGMT, he got my grandmother dancing to N'Sync, I can't overstate how much fun we had. When we remember our wedding with friends and families, the music is everyone's highlight. I cannot recommend Jeremy highly enough. - Nic My partner and I were looking for a DJ for our wedding. This was a new experience for me, but Jeremy made it incredibly easy. “It’s hard to overstate how amazing the Bachelor Boys Band is – from the booking process through the many email exchanges in the month leading up to our wedding, Amber (our point of contact) was super responsive, professional, and flexible with our questions and requests, and on the day of the band was above and beyond our expectations! Every piece of the day was enhanced by the music, and from the ceremony (including sound support) to the cocktail hour to the reception it really felt like the band tailored their performance to fit our style. The ceremony music was beautiful and the trio we had (acoustic guitar, cello, flute) was able to play all of the requests my dad (who is a big classical music fan) picked out; the jazz music during cocktail hour was perfect; and our only regret of the whole day was that we didn’t get to spend more time on the dance floor during the reception. I loved that we didn’t have to go through a list and pick out every single song of the night, but rather gave the band a sense of what kind of music we wanted to hear and let them go with it – they totally nailed it! Our friends are still talking about how much fun the music was, and we are even making plans to throw a big party just so we can have an excuse to hire the band again. We were especially appreciative of the extra effort the band made to add special touches to the day, including setting my brother-in-law up with an extra guitar and microphone during the ceremony so he could play a song, and learning our first dance song so it could be played live instead of DJ-ed. Amber was also an amazing MC throughout the evening, and made sure everything moved smoothly from speeches to cake cutting to dancing. Finally, I don’t think you’ll find a better value for a band, and certainly not for a band of this caliber. We were shocked at some of the quotes we received when we were first researching, and couldn’t believe how reasonable the total cost was for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception music – in addition to the time and energy we saved not having to coordinate with three different groups! We absolutely loved working with the Bachelor Boys Band, and would highly, highly recommend them to anyone getting married in the DC area!!! (Married June 2019)”

“We had an amazing experience working with Jamie (DJ Casanova) for our wedding in October 2022 (been meaning to write a review for so long)! Jamie was very professional throughout the whole planning process. We actually hired him in 2020 but we had to postpone our wedding twice because of covid (he was very flexible and made the postponement process very smooth). We met virtually/over the phone a few times and he assured us he was available to meet as many times as we'd like. “Kelton from Marquee Artists was amazing! He was a communicative and active participant in the planning of the music and the announcements at my wedding on March 9. Kelton provided an extensive list of potential songs to play in a shared Google Document with columns for “play” and “do not play” which was great. Also, I was impressed that he attended the walk through of the Whittemore House a month prior to the wedding, asking pertinent questions of the Whittemore staff about the placement of various things and how best to provide the sound amplification that would be needed. He provided wireless mics which worked really well for the toasts. Kelton did a great job as the master of ceremony and his mix of the selected music was fun and fabulous. He had the crowd dancing, rocking to the music. Many of the older folks told me that they hadn’t danced in years but were having lots of fun doing so then. Having him on our wedding team instilled so much confidence in me, my daughter and new son-in-law, who is an amateur DJ. They were so taken by Kelton that, if possible, they would like to attend future events at which Kelton is the DJ!! I HIGHLY recommend him.”

The "Original" Moonlighters ®

“We're quite saddened by their google review, posted even before we had a chance to actually speak with them to clear up several serious inaccuracies. Our band has HUNDREDS of positive online reviews/satisfied wedding clients. And we'll always accept valid criticism. But this one is mostly false and unfair. As Zola does not provide the option for responding to negative reviews, the following are our comments: 1. Since the bride and groom hadn't hired a wedding planner everything was extremely disorganized as we received their timeline just one week prior to the event, but then they changed it twice more, including two days before. Despite asking for our bandleader's phone #, the groom never reached out to discuss any of these details. In other words, we were given minimal direction in regard to all of the last-minute changes. Even on the wedding day itself, our band was asked to set and reset their equipment multiple times because the bride and groom disagreed with the onsite coordinator's floor plan, moving/resetting the bride and groom table as well! 2. According to what the photographer told us, the bride and groom's limo driver was over 90 min. late, shifting the entire timeline and putting them in a bad mood from the very beginning, as noticed by our bandleader at around 5:15pm when he first introduced himself, prior to the band providing either live or recorded music. 3. Regarding the recorded music, it was only lacking for approx. 45 min. as the band discovered the phone battery issue at approx. 7:45pm, during their first break, quickly rectifying the situation by putting the phone on a charger and then continuing with the recorded music outside from approx. 8-10pm. Furthermore, they made up for it by keeping their system running for an extra 30 min., beyond our contracted time of 11pm. And those comments regarding the afterparty are also totally untrue as somebody from the band was manning the system, until a cousin of the bride or groom demanded that he use her playlist instead, and then she responded angrily when he finally turned off the system at 11:30pm. 4. As for the band's sound system, we do acknowledge some 'hum' issues as there was just one electrical outlet provided for the entire band, resulting in 'dirty power' which couldn't be fully corrected. And we deeply regret mispronouncing the various names as most were very unfamiliar and of Indian origin, despite our lining up the wedding party in advance and writing everything down phonetically. 5. Even though some of the client's emails mentioned solo keys during cocktails, we provided a duo, covering an extra 30 min. of recorded music from 4:30-5pm at no extra charge, as requested. While it's standard practice for a band to take a dinner break during an almost six hr. event, this was clearly-specified in our contract as well. And then we performed continuously from 8:30-10pm, including most of the requested songs that we had prepared well in advance. So their comments about seemingly just 'walking off a bus' are completely false and misleading. In other words, our musicians went 'above and beyond' in spite of some very challenging circumstances. 6. Fortunately, we did receive a 'happy reaction' with a crowded dance floor and TONS of compliments from the guests, some requesting pictures w/the band too, while even the bride and groom were singing along and dancing non-stop, which we were VERY happy to see, making their negative review even more surprising though!”

Erik is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in guitar at Peabody Conservatory. He has been teaching guitar privately for several years at a few local studios. He has performed extensively in the US and Europe for over 10 years, and is currently the director of the St. Raphael’s Catholic Church Spanish Choir in Potomac, MD.
