I stay behind the camera because I'm more than a little introverted. That is, until I get to know people. Then I open up and we can talk about movies, music, dogs (I'm happy to show you pictures and videos of my rescue dog). I love what I do because I get to capture moments between you and the most important people in your life that you'll be able to relive for decades to come!

Before I ever held a camera, as a kid I was obsessed with organizing and reorganizing printed family snapshots in albums. This infatuation with captured moments, led to picking out my first film camera, a 35mm Pentax, film developing and darkroom printing in high school, and then my BFA in Photography Degree. From there, I worked in varied sectors of photography, but my true passion lay in documentary work that could bring about awareness of challenging global situations. I have published and exhibited journalistic series internationally, notably at Oxford University and Aperture Foundation.

I am a SF/bay area native who has now been in NYC for almost 15 years. I started Love in Theory in 2011 and fell in love with capturing the love and vibrant personalities of couples, both as individuals and as a united entity. In the 1950s & 60s, The Bronx was home to an amazing photographer that captured weddings and family events. His name? Warren Meurer aka the “Silverfox” (due to his flowing silver and gray locks). Fast forward to the early 1990s, Warren’s grandson, John Salkowsky, decided to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and open a wedding photography and video studio. When it came time to name this newly formed company, there was only ONE name it could possibly have – Silverfox Studios.

I have been a photographer for 21 years - it all started when my Mom gifted me my first camera to take on a trip. I shot 30 rolls of film, in a week, all in black & white. A decade later, I sat down to really think about what I wanted from life. At the time, I was playing professional soccer in Denmark, and knew that that experience had an expiration date. I wrote down what I love most - I LOVE people, travel, & photography. I hung up my cleats that very year and went full steam ahead into the most rewarding career I could have ever chosen. Photographing couples & their loved ones on the happiest day of their lives.
