We met on Hinge, as do most introverts these days. Dee: she liked my prompt where I joked about the universe having a great sense of humour about my diabetes and being born in Kandy (Sri Lanka) on Halloween. Min: he didn't ask me any questions while we were chatting, which was a relief because I didn't want to be asked what my favourite colour was. We chatted for days, and I got tired of waiting for him to ask me out so I suggested we meet up for bubble tea at Coco's. Dee: She met me at Coco's and guess what, she never ordered anything because, in her words, "I am so full, I can't even look at bubble tea right now". I thought she was weird for this but we talked for 3 hours while I slurped my bubble tea alone. Min: I found out his favourite thing to say was "good times". I later had to classically condition him to stop. Needless to say, the first date was such a good time! Second date wasn't happening as soon as I wanted to, so of course I had to accelerate things a little bit to get him to ask me out. We spent a whole day talking about movies and I had to pretend I'd lose my mind if I don't get to watch Dune 2 just so he would ask me to watch it with him. Dee: But, the movie wasn't going to be out for another couple weeks and she made it known that she didn't want to wait that long for the second date. In the meantime, we tried out a Korean BBQ place for date # 2. She was half an hour late and she blamed me for it because she was hooked on a K-drama I suggested. I was simply testing him - he passed; he's definitely the patient one! We also found out we lived 5 mins away from each other and independently travelled close to 40 mins to get to the restaurant. We had so much fun trying to eat all the food we ordered and talked for 4 hours - we both didn't want the date to end. Throughout the next couple of dates, she gave me a ton of hints that she liked me...I think, and one day, she asked me straight out, "I like you, why haven't you made a move yet?". We later counted the number of hints I gave him that I liked him - it was around 20 hints, but he was clueless at the time. So, of course, I had to accelerate things again - LOL! One of the hints she gave me was when she wanted to hold my hand under the guise of looking at my fortune - I just thought she was really into palm readings. On the 5th date, he held my hand for the first time and told me he liked me - finally! To be fair, I was indeed clueless, I really really liked her, and didn't want to mess anything up, so I wanted to give us both time to come to our feelings naturally (who knew we picked each other so fast! - obviously not me LOL). Our 5th date is also when we started officially dating - March 13th 2024! In a short time, we got to know we are a perfect match - two peas in a pod, soulmates, kindred spirits - a relationship that is indescribable by words. And, here we are - about to go on our biggest adventure yet. We are both so excited and grateful to have found this forever love after 33 years of looking for each other! We are so honoured to have our family and friends join us to celebrate our love story, and to bear witness to the start of our forever together!!
