Our Driving Route from ABQ

There is no way to fly directly into Puerto Peñasco. Phoenix & Tucson are the nearest airport options. From Albuquerque, it is around a 10.5 hour drive. We've linked our driving route on Google Maps. It's recommended to rely on Google Maps instead of Apple Maps, especially once you're across the border! ABQ - Hatch - Deming, NM - Tucson, AZ - Why - Lukeville - Sonoyta, MX - Puerto Peñasco Adding Mexican insurance coverage on your car is a must! Like actually. There are short-term plans available at the gas stations in AZ on the road down, or you can find an instant quote at mexicancarinsurance.com. There are other local options as well that we can put you in touch with. Use the Lukeville/Sonoyta border crossing! Hours are strictly enforced & are currently 6am-8pm. **Once you cross the border, your speed limit is in kilometers per hour, NOT mph. This is important to pay attention to as well as stopping fully at any “ALTO” signs you see. We always carry cash on the drive down as if you are pulled over, the police will expect payment immediately, even if you go with them to the station to pay your fine. If you watch your speed & stop *completely* at the “Alto” signs though, there’s no reason for them to do so!

Flight

Tucson or Phoenix Airports

The only option to fly into Puerto Peñasco is currently via chartered plane. Phoenix or Tucson are your nearest airports! If you fly in, the following car rental companies allow their rentals to have Mexican insurance added to be brought across the border: Phoenix Rental Cars, Hertz, Fox, & Thrifty. The following shuttles companies are frequently recommended: Head Out To Rocky Point & Nena’s Shuttle.

Encántame Towers

These condos are about a 10 minute walk on the beach from our wedding house & are a great option. There’s a heated lazy river & slide as well as an amazing restaurant & cute little cafe that serves Starbucks coffee. These vary from 1, 2, & 3 bedroom options. The link will show you some examples, but once we’re exactly a year out, I can put you in touch with Angela Koontz who is an owner at the condos. She can help us with booking.

This apartment is near the house that we usually stay at on Playa Encanto. It sleeps 4 & is about a 15-20 minute walk on the beach to the wedding house.
