We met our freshman year of high school. We were in the same program in school and had multiple classes together. We didn't talk much until we worked on a wedding project for one of our classes. Fast forward a few years, we reconnected at FIU's Relay for Life in 2014 and became very close from that moment on until our friendship grew into much much more!

Amid the chaos of the pandemic, Alex's plans had to be adapted and changed a few times. On May 17th, after hours and hours of rain, lightening, and thunder storms, Alex kept insisting we go out on the boat. We agreed to take the boat out for a sunset cruise since we hadn't been doing much due to quarantine. He came to pick me up and the moment we arrived at the boat, the day cleared out completely as if there hadn't been a storm at all! The water was super calm and the day was beautiful. He took me out to a little island with a lighthouse that was closed to the public so we were completely alone. He set up a tripod and camera and told me he had a present for me. He surprised me with a beautiful record player and the vinyl of our song. While our song was playing, he got down on one knee and popped the question! We celebrated with a picnic he had ready for us and we enjoyed the sunset, alone on an island, dreaming of the life and journey we had just begun.
