Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Tonia Bailey and Raymond Williams
Antigua's many beaches are the highlight of the island. While there are 365 to choose from, some of the most popular include Galley Bay Beach (for surfing), Valley Church Beach (for crystal clear, calm waters), Half Moon Bay (for some peace and quiet) and Dickenson Bay (considered the island's best). Peak tourist season is from December to May, so many restaurants and attractions close around September-October. Here are some places to visit on a free day.

Food

Shirley Heights Lookout overlooking English Harbour is open every day from 9 am, closing at sunset on Mondays and 10 pm on all other days. Also good for a nice hike with a beautiful view of the island. Ana’s on the Beach on Dickenson Bay is open every day from 10 am to 11 pm, with lunch, dinner and early and late happy hours. Bay House Restaurant at Trade Winds Hotel is open every day from 7 am to 11 pm, with the added bonus of all-day breakfast. BeachLimerz on Ft. James Beach is open every day from 11 am to 11 pm (and slightly longer on weekends), serving lunch and dinner. The Larder in the Royal Palm Plaza is open Mondays through Saturdays from 7 am to 9:30 pm for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the Sushi Bar opens at noon. Al Porto Restaurant in Jolly Harbour is closed in September, but reopens October 1 for dinner from 5 to 11 pm. Dennis Cocktail Bar & Restaurant on Ffryes Beach is on limited summer schedule, open Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays from noon to 9 pm.

"All Mart" for restaurant deliveries

Download the app to see which stores on the island will deliver to your location.

Beach Day

With so may options, here are some of Erin's favorite- Ffryes Beach- the closest beach to Fort. Shelley and is a family and a local favorite Darkwood Beach Fort James Beach Jabberwock Beach Halfmoon Bay Deep Bay Beach Carlisle Beach Coco Beach

Water Sports

Most resorts will assist with any water sports for their guests. If you’re interested in jet skiis, you can usually catch them in the ocean riding around looking for passengers. Local favorites are- Soul Immersions Dive Center- https://soulimmersions.ag Paddle and Drink Enterprise- +1 268-723-0607 Beach Life Jetski Tours- +1 268-721-0734

Meet Antigua's Wildlife

Unless you enjoy the watching goats cross the road or a herd of cows walking home, Antigua's wildlife is not that exciting. Top animal encounters are at Stingray City and Lavinscourt Island where you can pet the giant tortoises. Pig’s Paradise brings their little piglets to Seaforth Beach where you have a chance to swim with the pigs and bottle feed them their milk.

Day Trips on the Island

If you’re looking for a break from the beaches, Devil’s Bridge is good a place to sit and watch the Atlantic Ocean crashing in on the natural limestone Arch. Antigua has a sister Island, Barbuda, where you can take a ferry and visit Nobu Barbuda or Princess Diana beach to see the pink sands for the day. These tours are to be made in advance and are not recommended for people who suffer from motion sickness. If you'd like to escape the crowds and beaches, Prickly Pear is a private Island off of Hodges Bay. This would also need to be booked in advance with Hodges Bay Resort. If you're looking for a real experience, Calvin Air has helicopter tours around Antigua and to it's Montserrat’s active volcano! 10/10 would recommend.

FAQs

Question

What do I wear to the wedding?

Answer

To mirror the dreamy skies during our poolside sunset wedding, we ask guests to wear gradient of pink tones, ranging from blush to deeper rose, and soft peach + orange hues. The wedding colors in varying shades of peach and pink, take on a warm, golden glow, enhancing the romantic atmosphere. See the color palette in the "gallery" tab.

Question

How do I get around?

Answer

There are several options on how to travel. Resorts and hotels can provide your taxi services. You can rent a car at the airport, but remember- Antiguans drive on the left side of the road (I do not recommend for guests). A temporary drivers license is given. Taxis are also an option. Question

What are some things to do in Antigua?

Answer

Check out the "things to do" tab for a list of activities during your visit.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Daily high temperatures are around 86°F, rarely falling below 83°F or exceeding 89°F. Think hot and humid. It may be cool at night, especially near beaches.

Question

What do I wear on the Island?

Answer

It will be tropically hot, so pack light and airy clothes, sandals and plenty of swim wear. DO NOT wear camouflage in Antigua, especially at the airport. You will get a visit from the Antiguan Security Officers.

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

Antigua is a tropical island and the mosquitoes are strong, especially at night. It's smart to pack repellent, but Antigua stores have repellent cream called "Odomos" that works wonders for the entire day. The days are hot, so be sure you have plenty of hats and personal fans to keep cool. Also, please protect your skin with adequate sunscreen.

Question

How do I communicate on my phone?

Answer

International rates will apply once you land on island. Please check with your provider and make plans for an international data plan to avoid a surprise bill. What’s App is an international texting app that everyone on island uses. Wifi is available in most restaurants.

Question

What is the currency in Antigua?

Answer

The currency in Antigua and Barbuda is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD) more locally called “EC”. Most things will be priced in EC, and some such as tours and accommodation will also be advertised in US dollars. You can use US dollars in Antigua and Barbuda. If you do, then your change will be given to you in EC. ATMs are available on island and are compatible with major US banks. Visa/Mastercard are accepted at some restaurants. Please do not rely on Apple Pay, cash app, etc.
