There's no shortage of good food in downtown San Antonio. The guide has some great options. Some of Shelbi's favorites: Rosario's, La Fonda on Main, Mi Tierra. Walk around the historic Pearl and stop by the brand new Pullman Market.
San Antonio Missions National Historical Park contains four missions in one park and embodies nearly 300 years of rich history and culture. All four of the mission sites at San Antonio Missions National Historical Park also still contain active catholic parishes. The churches hold regular services in these historic buildings. They are open to park visitors during park hours. The Missions are a ten minute drive from downtown San Antonio.
Are you staying a few extra days? Head to one of our favorite places - Fredricksburg - 'one of the Lone Star State's most charming towns and the Hill Country's unofficial capital of food and wine.' The drive is about an hour each way and we recommend planning to be gone a whole day.
Looking for Hill Country charm in a shorter time frame? Head to Main Street in Boerne (hot tip: pronounced bur-knee) for a little history and German heritage, great shops, restaurants and craft breweries. This is a ~30 minute drive from the Hotel Valencia and you could see a lot in a few short hours.
