While we both love children, given the evening schedule for the wedding and other logistics, we do not think it advisable to include them at our wedding celebration. For out-of-town guests, we will try to identify possible babysitters, who you would reach out to hire to arrange baby-sitting at the Hotel. Please contact Celia Rodee at celiarodee@gmail.com to inquire.
Both the Wedding Ceremony and Reception will be held at The Morton Arboretum, 4100 Illinois Route 53, Lisle, IL 60532. We will exchange our wedding vows in the Gerry T. Donnelly Grand Garden, and then retire to the Gingko Room within the Visitors’ Center for cocktails, dinner, and entertainment.
There is plenty of parking right next to The Morton Arboretum Visitor Center, and there will be signage directing you to the events.
We chose The Morton Arboretum because of its beautiful grounds, and we hope to exchange our vows outdoors in the Grand Garden, and then celebrate our marriage indoors, in the Gingko Room.
We have reserved a block of rooms at the Doubletree, Downers Grove, Illinois, which is about two miles from the Morton Arboretum. We also reserved a block of rooms at the Hampton Inn & Suites, Downers Grove, Illinois, which is about three miles from the arboretum. You can access the reservation link to both room blocks on the "Travel" tab, above. In addition, guests may want to consider The Chicago Westin, in Lombard, Illinois, or the Hyatt Regency, in Lisle, Illinois, which are located conveniently nearby, although we have not reserved a block of rooms and do not have transportation arranged for any other hotels then the Double Tree to the venue
We will have a shuttle taking guests from the Doubletree and Hampton Inn to The Morton Arboretum prior to the Wedding Ceremony and returning to the Doubletree and Hampton Inn during the course of the evening and at the end of the reception. Seating may be limited and guests should plan accordingly.
Please wear what makes you comfortable and provides you the greatest flexibility to dance and make merry during the evening. That being said, we would recommend formal/cocktail attire (but not black tie or ball gowns!).
September is one of the most beautiful times of the year in Northern Illinois, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the mid-50s.
Ahh, now that's a question in and of itself. For those in town on Friday, September 20th, Tyler hopes to organize an outing to the "Friendly Confines" of Wrigley Field, as the Chicago Cubs host the Washington Nationals in a matinee game. Contact Tyler directly, at tylerglankford@gmail.com, if you are interested in participating.
Now this is uncomfortable. In all honesty, we are really looking forward to your celebrating with us on our big day, and having you there is the greatest gift of all. However, if you're looking for wedding gift ideas, we've registered for things that we need to outfit our home and our new life together. That list is accessible through the "Registry" tab, above. In addition, we will have a wedding card box at our reception.
Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask of you! If you would like to honor us with a gift, please have it delivered to our home at 5804 Brocade Drive, Austin, TX 78724. A wedding card box will be at our reception.
We understand that some people love to take photos during the wedding ceremony (I’m looking at you, Mom!). That’s fine, but please try to be in the moment and be respectful of the people around you. Also, please, please do not interfere with or obstruct our wedding photographer.
We hope to have photos of our wedding posted quickly to our website. Until then, however, we request that you not post photos from the wedding, and, even after, we ask that you not post photos without people’s permission.

The wedding and reception will be taking place in Lisle, Illinois, and the hotel block is in the neighboring town, Downers Grove. Both are located about 25 miles west of Chicago. Here are some suggestions for both Saturday and Sunday. • The Morton Arboretum. We have arranged for all our guests to have complementary admission to The Morton Arboretum during the day on September 22nd. The Arboretum features an award-winning Children’s Garden, Maze Garden, and 16 miles of hiking trails. • The Willis Tower (pronounced “Sears Tower” by locals). Formerly the tallest building in the world, the Willis Tower hosts the Skydeck, located 103 floors up, from which you can see up to four states and 75 miles, or stand on the “Ledge”, a quarter of a mile above the pedestrians below. • Millennium Park. Millennium Park, located in the heart of downtown Chicago, is home to the iconic Cloud Gate statue (aka “The Bean”), interactive fountains, tranquil gardens, free events, public art, rock climbing, and plenty of green space. • Chicago’s Museum Campus houses three of the city’s leading institutions all in one place. Spend a day exploring natural history and world cultures at Field Museum, underwater worlds at the Shedd Aquarium, and far-out galaxies at the Adler Planetarium. • Art Institute of Chicago. The renowned Art Institute of Chicago is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the country. The only museum in the world to be ranked among the world’s best by TripAdvisor four years in a row, houses the largest collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art on the planet outside the Louvre. • Chicago Architecture Center River Cruise. This impressive tour is a must-do, covering over 50 remarkable buildings. Chicago is the birthplace of the skyscraper, after all.
