Some of our Philly favorites! Try a roast pork sandwich from DiNic's, Donuts from Beiler's Doughnuts, and a duck roll from Sang Kee Peking Duck House. Grab a cookie from Famous 4th Street Cookie Company ($1 cookies at end of day 4:50pm) or a Corned Beef or Pastrami Sandwich from Hershel's Deli!
A tribute to the Italian side of the family and the deep history of Italians living in Philadelphia! Some must try's- Cannoli or treat from Isgros Pastries, a stop into Dibruno Brothers to sample some cheese/meats and get some Italian goodies, a slice of pizza or a sandwhich from one of the many shops, a quick bite of seafood at Anasti's. A great place to walk around, shop, and explore!
Goldie is where Matt's restaurant career really took off and still some of our favorite eats! Grab some falafel and schwarma fries to dip into a tahini milkshake! Good for our gluten free and vegan friends and anyone who likes delicious Israeli street food.
One of our favorites, many great memories here with friends and family and always a go-to spot in the city! Try the cheesesteak eggrolls, French onion soup dumplings, Szechuan shoestring fries, Pad Thai, calamari salad, and of course the lobster mac and cheese! Great drinks, cool vibes.
Matt's go-to happy hour spot! Open all year round, Graffiti Bar can be found down a narrow chain linked fence alley, adjacent to Sampan, surrounded by a mural commissioned by local artist Ali M Williams. The bar is enclosed, ensuring comfort regardless of the weather. Every Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Graffiti Bar offers one of the best Happy Hours in the city featuring Satays, Dumplings & Spring Rolls, Bao Buns & more. Drinks include a daily-changing cocktail, wine and beer specials!
Matt's favorite pizza spot for some tomato pie and the ever changing specials. Head over to Fishtown for part of Matt's famous food tour, a stop here amongst some other great foodie finds! Grab your slices and head over to Garage across the street where you can BYOF, grab a beer, and play some ski ball, Sandra's favorite thing to do at a bar!
Another Fishtown hotspot! Grab brunch or lunch, everything is good at all times of the day! Sandra's favorite- The Surfer or the Shopsin Club, and must add a side of the latke and pancakes! The gluten free bread and options are great here too!
So many amazing things to try at this Fishtown staple sandwich shop! Another great place for tomato or white pie, a classic italian salumeria, or the Insta famous kale caesar cutlet. Cant go wrong here! They offer all sandwiches on gluten free bread and have veg options too!
Soak in all of the history that this city has to offer! Start at the Independence Hall Visitor Center, walk along the Mall to see the sites, take a tour of Independence Hall, the National Constitution Center, and check out the Liberty Bell and US Mint!
Take a walk around, through, and above Philadelphia's City Hall! Walking distance from the hotel and a very historical and iconic site for the city. Stand in the center and look up at the amazing architecture. There is often a market, roller blading, ice skating, a food hall and other fun activities out front at Dilworth Park!
Take a walk along the Schuylkill River Trail, one of our favorite walks/runs/biking areas in Philly, its a great way to see the sites and explore a more green part of the city right near where we live! There are different access points from the city, and you can walk South along the boardwalk or North to see boathouse row and the art museum!
Sandra's favorite museum, a Philly staple with a unique collection of art, created by Isaiah Zagar, an amazing man who creates spectacular pieces from everyday used items. Once you visit you might notice little murals around the city, an ode to the expansive nature of this Artists work and contribution to the Philly art scene!
If you are into weird and interesting sciency things this is a must see! The Mütter Museum is a medical history and science museum located in the Center City area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It contains a collection of anatomical and pathological specimens, wax models, and antique medical equipment. The museum is part of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia.
Matt's favorite bar (and place) in Philly. A long family history of living in the area and visiting this iconic neighborhood bar, grab a beer, a roast beef sandwich (the only thing on the menu), catch a game, or meet some friendly locals!
Another awesome Philly dive bar near where Matt and Sandra met, a place that was frequented often for a late night drink, a game of darts, or some good music. A favorite on the Philly Mural Tour, notice all of the "Franks" painted on the outside, and give an ode to the women only bar tenders that run the show!
