Well, after searching and searching for venues close to home, and not being satisfied with the options, we decided to branch out! It wasn't an easy decision, knowing that some people would have to make some changes to attend, and we appreciate that more than you could ever know. We just wanted to have the wedding that we've envisioned, and Guatemala is the perfect fit.
EASY! So, first things first: book your flight! We HIGHLY recommend booking ASAP as prices always increase the closer you get to the trip. There is also a large festival happening the weekend of the wedding and this can possibly hinder your ability to find a room at a reasonable rate. You will need to fly into La Aurora International Airport (GUA) and then arrange a shuttle to and from the airport. We have teamed up with a shuttle service that will provide an amazing deal of $45 per person round trip from the airport to your hotel. This link will be provided below. Keep in mind that the shuttle service will ask you for your flight information. https://antiguatours.net/weddings/kenneth-and-tiffanys-wedding/
Excellent question and maybe the most important one. Antigua is, for the most part, a very affordable city to visit. With that being said, it is important to book your accommodations early in order to secure a hotel that fits your budget and needs. We are providing a list of hotels and accommodations in the travel section of the website. We will also be offering a shuttle bus to and from the wedding for our guest to alleviate some of the stress of finding transportation day of. Now, you definitely do not have to go with our recommendations and are more than welcome to find your own accommodations. We have decided against a room block situation since there are so many options that are close to the wedding venue and wanted to leave that option open for our guests.
Ugh you guys are killing it with the questions. 10/10. *chefs kiss*. The dress code is black tie/formal attire. This means to BRING YOUR BEST. We're talking floor length dresses, full suits, dress shoes, glitz, glam, the works. There is no formal color scheme that our guests need to follow, however, the bridesmaids will be wearing pink, and the groomsmen will be wearing black suits. So, if it were us, we would maybe want to avoid wearing those colors as to not get confused with the bridal party. A link will be provided below just in case you need some guidance. https://www.brides.com/story/black-tie-wedding-guest-dress-code-long-gowns
We would advise AGAINST renting a car. Guatemala City has an aggressive driving culture and Antigua itself is all cobblestones. This may pose potential hazards for our guests so, it’s best to just take the shuttle. PLUS! Parking is REALLY HARD.
First and foremost, If you are late for the ceremony, you will not be allowed in the ceremony. It is extremely distracting to everyone when someone arrives after the ceremony has started and we would like to avoid this unnecessary distraction as to not take away from our special day. ANYWAYS! Cocktail hour begins at 2:30 pm and the ceremony will begin at 3:30pm. Give yourself time to find your seats, chat with others etc. This is a wedding! So please respect that and arrive early.
While we love and adore each and every one of our family members and recognize that the children in our families are an important part of our lives, this will be an adult only event. No persons under the age of 21 will be allowed to attend. This is to avoid any unnecessary distractions, costs, and overall stressors to us, our planner and, ultimately, our guests. With this being said, Tiffany has chosen to have her close nieces and nephews attend the wedding. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please feel free to reach out to either of us. But, just know this rule is non-negotiable.
It is important to us that all our guest feel comfortable with each other, and our goal is for a fun filled evening with everyone mingling and hopefully forming new connections with genuinely good people. Because of this, all plus ones are at our discretion and we have opted to only allow spouses that are married or have been in long term, committed relationships.
Wow stop it! We are through the moon that you even thought about giving us a gift. While your presence is as much of a gift as we could ask for, gifts are still always appreciated. If you feel so inclined to give us a gift, please make it in the form of cash, check or money transfer.
We know it would be easier to just shoot us a text and say you're going. This, however, can get very cumbersome and unorganized. We PREFER if everyone RSVP through the QR code provided to you on the invitation. If for whatever reason you cannot RSVP through the provided QR code, please let us know immediately.
YES
The link will give you all the information regarding setting up the shuttles. With that being said, it has come to our attention that there will be a festival happening the weekend of the wedding. Many of the roads will be either closed off to cars or extremely congested that Saturday night(after 5pm) and Sunday. This will not affect the wedding or any of the events leading up to the wedding. However, it may affect your rides back to the airport. The travel services said that it would better and less complicated to leave either Saturday morning or Monday. Please note that if you do plan on leaving Saturday, you should do so in the early morning as the roads will be closed Saturday night. Also if you plan on leaving Sunday, there will be limited shuttle times and pick up spots. Try your best to accommodate for these and book your transport early. With that being said, you do not have to use the shuttle we are suggesting. You’re free to use other means of transportation that you find more accommodating. As we already said, one of the biggest processions takes place in Antigua on April 6, Sunday If you are planning on leaving that Sunday, please reach out to the shuttle service, whether it be the one we’ve provided or your own private one. They will be the ones to direct you on where to meet and what time. If you choose to use the one we provided, their direct email is on the website. We will attach the link again here. https://antiguatours.net/weddings/kenneth-and-tiffanys-wedding/ We recommend that all guests leave on Monday but do not let us stop you from going home earlier, I know we all have busy schedules. But please be mindful of pick up times and locations as this can change. Again, PLEASE reach out to your shuttle service for more information.
Antigua is a very walking friendly city. With that being said, sneakers or comfortable walking shoes ARE A MUST! The roads are literally all cobblestones so leave those heels for the wedding day. Antigua is also a very safe city and is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Walking around is totally safe but please just be smart like you would be in any new city. Most places take debit or credit card but keep in mind that there are some street vendors that only take cash. Be mindful that the banks in Antigua only accept $50 and $100 dollar bills to exchange.
