*TRAFFIC ALERT* Please add 30 minutes to any time you see on your GPS. Plan on massive delays due to construction on 290 and Friday rush hour!
We met at Austin's Zilker Park with our pups, some snacks, and a bottle of wine. We spent hours in conversation, watched the dogs play together, and before we knew it we were left under the stars. We reluctantly parted ways. Little did we know that we would have many more nights like this in the days and years to come!
It was the perfect day nearing the end of a family vacation in Colorado. Ryan and I always go on a good hike when we travel places with more elevation gain than Austin. We spent a lot of time picking a beautiful hike and set off after breakfast to find the trailhead of Uneva Peak outside Breckenridge, CO. The hike was breathtakingly beautiful with wildflowers, creeks, and wildlife everywhere. Once we got to the top Ryan made sure I caught my breath, ate my sandwich and was taking in the view before getting my attention and asking me to marry him. Of course I said yes! Then we spent the whole hike back down the mountain on a bit of a rocky mountain high, in the best way. It was everything I dreamed of and more.

To use the code click "groups and companies" and then type in our username and password. This hotel is is in a fun part of town about 30 min (without bad traffic) from the venue. I would allow extra time to get the Terrace club for the wedding. Don't let the drive deter you from staying here though! South Congress won't disappoint.

This website has a good overview of what the city has to offer! Great place to start.
This is where we had our first date! We love this park for it's accessibility, dog friendliness, fun, and weirdness. You can bring your own food, drinks, music, activities and spend as many hours as you would like. We have played pick up soccer with strangers, watched fire dancers after sunset, made tie-dye shirts with friends, and just watched clouds from the flats of our backs while Bluebell and Murphy played (it is an off leash dog park). One of our favorite ways to do Zilker is with charcuterie, wine, a blanket and the pups on a Sunday evening under the sunset.
South Congress is a must see in Austin. It is a place with good restaurants, bars, shopping and art galleries. Some favorite restaurants are: Cafe No Se (brunch, happy hour), Hopdoddy (beer and burgers), Homeslice (a classic Austin pizza spot), Güero's Taco Bar (Tex-Mex and margs!) Please scope out the area, check out the street vendors, jewelry shops, eclectic art galleries and vintage clothing shops. There are tons of hidden gems on this street!
Not too far from the venue and well worth the visit! Spring is the best time to see the many beautiful wildflowers in Texas. The LBJ Wildflower center is a gorgeous space to explore the spacious gardens and enjoy the famous Texas bluebonnets among many other native plants. Family Friendly!
One of the best things about Austin! There are many many greenbelts within the city limits and they provide a dog and family friendly escape from the concrete city scape. We love taking the pups on a hike and even a swim. If you are up to a little longer hike we recommend going all the way to sculpture falls. You will be rewarded with a beautiful swimming hole in the middle of the city! Other notable greenbelts: Onion Creek Greenbelt (South Austin); Walnut Creek (N Austin); and Bull Creek (NW Austin)
Looking for a cool place to swim or soak up some of the Texas sun? Check out Barton Springs Pool! This classic Austin swimming hole is open year round! Since it is spring fed the water is always the same cool 68-70 degrees.
This is our favorite Brewery in town! Austin is known for having a bunch of Breweries and we love most of them. This Brewery is a great mix of indoor and outdoor space, live music, great food truck options, and awesome brews for all beer palates. Ryan and I also happen to play Soccer here on a social sports league with some of our best Austin friends. We play every Thursday!
Another Fave! This Brewery is close to the venue (basically in my parent's backyard). There is a beautiful walking trail that goes around the property if you are looking for some views and a little exercise. A great place for hanging out and eating some wonderful pizza while drinking some one of a kind brews!
We love this spot! When the weather is great this is a place to be! They have great live Country Music on the weekends. Fun during the day or at night! Be sure to check out Moontower Saloon and Luster Pearl South next door!
This 10 mile hike and bike trail cuts through the heart of the city and offers a gorgeous view of downtown. You can get a taste of what it is to be a local and feel the energy of the city here! There are multiple entry and exit points so you can do as much or as little of the trail as you see fit. You can also rent boats, kayaks, and paddle boards at water level and explore the river from below!
This is a beautiful park that frequently has community events and live music. It is also a beautiful place to stroll at all hours of the day. I also highly recommend the Sunday Farmer's market!
Looking for something to do with the kiddos? Look no further. This is a wonderful kids museum that will keep everyone in the family occupied and mentally stimulated!
If you are looking for some good Texas BBQ go here! This restaurant has a huge outdoor area, indoor area, and live music. It is BYOB and delicious. Pssst... try the bison ribs, beef brisket, and sausage! Only 15 minutes from the wedding venue!
This is one of our favorite restaurants in the city! If you are looking for some wonderful interior Mexican food this is the place to go. We go here for the atmosphere and flavors. Try the mole or camerones mojo de ajo! They have great drinks too!
An Austin Favorite for Tex-Mex! It has a wonderful outdoor patio and indoor space. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu!
Spring is notoriously unpredictable in Texas. Our hope is that the weather will be 75 and sunny but it could be much cooler or much hotter. Springtime also comes with a lot of rain and thunderstorms so please be prepared for almost anything and check the weather before you pack.
We recommend leaving the kiddos at home for this event. We want everyone to be able to have a fun stress free evening with us! Of course, it is important for our loved ones to be able to attend so if you plan to bring kids please let us know so we can make sure to include them in the headcount for the caterer.
There is plenty of parking in a gravel lot at the venue. It is a little walk up a slight hill from the lot to get to the paved road. Feel free to have someone drop you off at the entrance of The Terrace Club if you have any mobility issues.
Feel free to get there early and beat some of the Austin traffic. There will be a room for you to hang out and mingle starting at 4pm. Don't forget to sign the guestbook!
