Five years ago, we were both working at Rosie’s. It was one of those places that was like a second home at the time as hard as we both worked opening each property. One day, I (Kaela) was sitting at lunch with a friend when Nick walked by. I just felt something, you know? I turned to my friend and said, “He’s going to be mine one day.” It was a gut feeling, and I was right. At the time, both of us were dealing with some tough stuff in our lives. We think that’s part of what drew us together. We started talking more during our breaks and working on processes and procedures for Rosie’s, and it was like we just clicked. We didn’t just understand each other; we were there for each other in ways that no one else was. We bonded over picking each other up, staying positive when things got rough, and being that light for each other when we needed it most. After we got together, life got even better. We started going on trips, exploring new places, and just enjoying life. We both love the beach, so a lot of our time was spent with our toes in the sand, fishing poles in hand. There’s something about being near the water that just makes everything feel right. We’ve been through a lot together, even moving across state lines and back. But no matter where we were, as long as we were together, it felt like home. It’s not just the big things, though—it’s the little moments that have really made our relationship special. Cooking dinner together, binge-watching shows, or just sitting quietly and enjoying each other’s company. Looking back, it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come. That feeling I (Kaela) had back at Rosie’s was spot on. We have built a life full of love, adventure, and a whole lot of fun.
