“Te conocí jangueando y ahora siento La química de ese momento Tú perreando y yo pensando Que te quisiera to' el tiempo” The truth is we came to know each other on the dance floor on Onyx Latin night. We would be lying to you if we did not share that our love for our culture, dancing, and family were present on that day! On Nov 15, 2019, our dear friend Marcela invited Marisela over to the house for some of her husband Luis’ fantastic Surf n Turf tacos! While Mari came for a nice dinner with a friendship that was developing with Marcela. She got more than what she was bargaining for. She met Michelle on that very day when she came out of her room with her Frida Kahlo poncho and leggings. Michelle was not going to join in the fun that day but she can’t say no to tacos lol…now she knows that was the best decision she made that night. We enjoyed some tacos and drinks on Marcela and Luis’ back deck and Marisela learned that Luis, Michelle, and she shared the same birthday month so in Mari fashion invited herself to Michelle’s birthday bash at Disneyland! Probably the first best decision Marisela ever made! Disney initiated what will be a long life friendship with Marcela and Luis but keeping with the theme Marisela kept getting more than what she bargained for… that day Michelle slid in her DMs so she could share "pictures". After a day to remember at the happiest place on earth the Lyle Drive squad (Marcela, Luis, and Michelle... at the time… Esme hadn’t joined yet) invited Marisela for another night out. Insert the Intro Paragraph if you will, we continued to get to know each other through this third outing with the Lyle Drive Squad and finally, Marisela and Michelle connected on the dance floor! Marisela grew up dancing with a lot of girls but this dance was just hitting different! We hit it off at the Latin Night at Onyx and sparks flew! While love was in the air so was COVID at the time, in a matter of days the newfound love came to a full-on stop. Like the rest of the world, we both shifted into survival mode but the times called for us to lean on each other. "Hey Michelle, I heard State shut down. How are you doing?" Both of us remained in panic for the first few weeks but after we recognized quarantine would be our new normal Mari began to FaceTime Michelle nightly until she got the courage to ask her out on a date (a walk around the neighborhood... quiet literally). Mari remembered the night out at the club vividly but wanted to assure that this emotional connection that began to develop was everything she remembered it to be. Ladies and gentlemen, it was that and some, while our first date was not the most ideal situation the fire was very much there as Michelle walked out that door and we went on that walk! Michelle and Marisela continue to pour love into each other daily, we spent a year and a half in quarantine together really getting to know each other. Marisela is particularly grateful for that time slowing down (as we all know she stays on them streets) it allowed both of them to connect and get to know each other in a way they can't even quite describe but hold immense gratitude towards. After 33 years, a pandemic, and a journey of self-discovery Michelle took a leap of faith to move out of state to the Colorful state of Colorado, Mari packed the Uhaul if ya will ;p and we are still trying to find the Colorful part (jk it truly is colorful) but we have made it our new home. Hand in hand, dance after dance, our hard days with our good days we have truly enjoyed and feel eternally grateful for our love. It's what helped us survive the pandemic, it's what has built our home here in Colorado and it's what will continue to help us grow together. It only seems fitting to theme our story to Sech and Daddy Yankee's single Para Siempre. Because through one dance we learned we love each other demasiado… and above all we will love each other -para siempre!
