Gina and Mary Catherine’s love story begins on screen, a classic millennial digital love story: On January 4, 2020 Mary Catherine awoke like any other morning: begrudgingly. This morning felt different though. After a night of scrolling and swiping, there was one woman she just couldn’t get out of her mind - Gina. Mary Catherine couldn’t stop thinking about the social worker with a beautiful smile. After several espressos, Mary Catherine eagerly checked to see if Gina had matched her back. To Mary Catherine’s surprise Gina had already messaged her. The two quickly took their budding relationship off-app and into real life. Mary Catherine asked Gina on a lunch date. In true Mary Catherine fashion, she slept in, leaving Gina to think the date was cancelled. Although they fumbled their first date, their thoughts kept gravitating back to each other. After a few weeks, they decided to give it another go. Gina and Mary Catherine finally met up at the Hound’s Tale in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. They grabbed two wines and a bowl of popcorn as a local pianist set up stage behind them. As the night carried on, the two bonded over their ironically shared tattoo (=), work in mental health, music, vision of life, love of pasta, and favorite games. Gina was instantly engulfed in Mary Catherine’s calming presence and Mary Catherine was captured by Gina’s fiery soul. They felt the perfect balance in each other’s energies. The next week they purchased a Nintendo Switch, which would become a centerpiece in their playful relationship. March 2020: The couple continued to grow & eventually introduced their furry friends to each other, Pinot and Buddy, drawing their hearts together even more. Then two weeks later, the world locked down. Gina & Mary Catherine spent time cooking for one another, playing games, & learning about each other. While everything was uncertain and the world was falling apart, it was certain that Gina & Mary Catherine were falling in love. From the very beginning, it was obvious that Gina and Mary Catherine had something special. They were inseparable in both their friendship and romance. Gina, an Italian New Yorker, and Mary Catherine, a simple Virginia (semi-Massachusetts) girl, couldn’t be any more opposite. Yet they’ve found that opposites indeed do attract and balance in the most beautiful way possible.
