It all started on January 30, 2017 (Matthew's birthday). Matthew was out at one of his neighborhood bars, celebrating. Emily was there, too, with friends. They ended up standing next to each other, sharing sideways glances back and forth - friendly smiles were exchanged, but nothing more. There was an air of familiarity, but it was too hard to pinpoint amid the crowd at that night's show. It wasn't until later, once home, that Emily realized that she recognized him because they had matched on an online dating site earlier that week, and she had looked through his photos. In an out-of-character first move, Emily messaged Matthew on the app, hoping to confirm the connection. They returned to the Hi Ho Lounge the next night for their first official date, and the rest, they say, is history. Seven years later, they have traveled together, hiked, and camped in all sorts of beautiful places. They endlessly loved their tuxedo cat Costello, and they absolutely adore their brindle pup Bean and their black and white cat Willy. They costumed together for Mardi Gras, kayaked the bayous of Louisiana, and weathered a hurricane or two before deciding to move back up to New England to be closer to their families. Vermont has been its own adventure, and they are so excited to take this next big step together with their friends and family in this beautiful state that they now call home!

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the area - it's a little out of the way, but definitely worth it!
Another local favorite for dinner dates!
They're open limited hours, but if you happen to be looking for lunch in Brattleboro, this is the spot. They have amazing falafel sandwiches, homemade pita and hummus - this is a really good veg-friendly option!
This spot has good beer, and a great view of the Connecticut River! It's a local favorite.
This general store has the best breakfast sandwiches in the area - make sure to get them on a portuguese muffin.
This is a great local gift shop and maple farm in Putney, and they have the best maple creemees around (maple flavored soft serve ice cream). They also happen to be our neighbor, we live right behind the farm.
