We met a week after Margaret moved to The Coast from Atlanta. Our first date was spur of the moment (having originally planned to go out the next day) we went to Government Street Grocery, a favorite spot of Jake’s, where we ate and talked and laughed until we saw Margaret’s friends’ band’s bus (that’s a mouthful) pull in to the parking lot. Having no idea they were playing at this venue this night, Margaret asked if they could stay and listen, insisting Jake would LOVE the band. So we stayed and listened and talked and fell in love. Every time Grits & Greens plays here it feels special for us. Coincidentally a year and a half later, they played this venue the night of our engagement; we were thrilled we got to share this venue and our favorite band with some of our closest friends the night Margaret said “yes!”.
