When COVID first started emerging, Greg and Lydia were living and working in NYC - one of the country's first hot spots. Just about two months prior to the wedding, we made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone our wedding. Like everyone else, we sincerely believed at the time that life would be back to normal after a few months. So, we postponed our wedding until May 30, 2021, when we hoped that we could safely celebrate with all of our friends and family.
In the weeks following the postponement, we continued quarantining in (and working from) our apartment. As our original wedding date - May 24, 2020 - crept closer, we started to dread the idea of spending the day that we'd been looking forward to for 1.5 years in our apartment as we'd been spending every other day. In early May, with the help of our amazing photographer (Corey Lynn Tucker - coreylynntuckerphotography.com) we planned a small elopement ceremony, at a beautiful private estate in Connecticut, on our original wedding date. For everyone's safety, we were only able to have our immediate family, officiant, and photographer in attendance. It was a warm, sunny, perfect day that we'll always look back on with nothing but fondness and great memories. We encourage everyone to check our "Elopement Photos" tab to see pictures of our ceremony and social-distanced-picnic reception!
As much as we hoped to be able to celebrate with everyone on May 30, 2021, we can't host the type of wedding (read: party) that we want until more people are vaccinated, COVID case numbers are down, and it's safe to travel again. As much as it pains us, we've made the decision to cancel our wedding. Trust us - we're bummed too. We had the whole wedding planned and were excited to see everything come together! As new homeowners, we hope to have a small celebration at our home eventually.
