Wedding Party

Negar

Maid of Honor

Negar has been my friend for almost 20 years and she’s the bees knees. Relentlessly smart, talented, and imaginative, Negar is my ride or die and the person I call to talk about anything and everything, and we call pretty much every week. Love you to the moon, M

Jessica

Bridesmaid

Jess and I have been friends since high school (Negar, Jess, and I all went to the same middle school and high school!) Jess is the life of the party, has a lot of amazing tree knowledge, and is a true friend. With all the love, M

Georgia

Bridesmaid

Georgia (G) and I have been friends since 2017 and we worked together at Airbnb. Negar introduced us and said we had a lot in common, she was right. G, who now lives in Korea, is a connoisseur of Kdramas, loves a good whiskey sour, and is a very thoughtful, giving person. With these three ladies, we make up the Lady Squad, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Xoxo, M

Maimei

Officiant

Maimei was my roommate when I (finally) moved out of my parent’s house after college. We met and I convinced her to share a lease with me. We adopted two cats together (one being Finn) and we’ve enjoyed some hilarious and fun times living together. Maimei has seen my relationship with Dez blossom and is the perfect person to officiate our most special day. Love you lots, M

Minoh

Groomsman

We were college roommates, nuff said. In all seriousness, Minoh has been a great friend of mine with our friendship going on 12 years. We share many moments during the adulting part of our lives. He has been kind, caring, and understanding and I could not ask for a better friend. Cheers buddy, D

Maurice (Mo)

Groomsman

Well well well, what can I say about Mo? Only that he inspires me to do better and be better. I met Mo when I moved to Portland back in 2016. What started as an employer-employee relationship became a good friendship. I have learned so much from Mo. I don't think I would be where I am today professionally if it wasn't for him. Thanks a bunch, D

Garrett

Groomsman

Garrett is someone I met more recently. We met when our girlfriends (fiancee for me) met. We kicked it off instantly. We bonded over our love for cars and watches. But there is so much to it. Although we are now living in different time zones, I know we will always be connected. Have fun out there, D

Finnegan

The Cat in Charge

I adopted Finn right before I met Dez and Dez has been a fantastic parent to Finn ever since. Finn is a constant source of joy in our lives and he’s successfully turned Dez into the purrrfect cat dad. Finn’s hobbies are adventuring outside, laying in front of the fireplace, and sleeping in Dad's lap (or really anywhere).

FAQs

The Wedding Website of Makaylaa Clancy and Desmond Vu
Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

There is! We ask that all guests get dressed up in black tie formal. Tea length (slightly above or below the knee) and long dresses for the ladies and a bowtie and tuxedo combo for the men. If you are planning on wearing heels, we recommend bringing an extra pair of flats to help with the terrain (there is grass, pavement, and cobblestone(ish) ) Let's get fancy y'all!

Question

Where are you registered?

Answer

We have cash-only registry options, including a honeymoon and house updating fund. No need for 3 toasters 😉

Question

I don’t have a Venmo account for your registry

Answer

We will have a box for contributions on the big day.

Question

Why is your wedding cash only?

Answer

In Chinese culture, the act of giving money holds deep symbolic meaning, especially in occasions like weddings. Known also as “ang pao'' these red envelopes symbolize good fortune, prosperity, and blessings for the recipient(s). The gesture of presenting money in red envelopes is considered auspicious and is believed to ward off evil spirits and bring happiness and prosperity to the newlyweds. It also reflects a wish for the couple to start their new life together with financial stability and abundance. 🧧🧧

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

Our ceremony will start at 3:00 pm (or close to it!) Please arrive no later than 2:30 pm. Ceremony is open seating, unless otherwise noted.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

The sooner the better! Please RSVP before July 1. We want to make sure we can feed everyone.

Question

How do I get to your venue?

Answer

Our venue is The Abernethy Center at 606 15th St. Oregon City, OR 97045 There are two venues at The Abernethy Center and we will be at Abigail's Garden. We are situated right behind Canard (a delicious restaurant, highly recommend). There will be signage directing you, along with a huge parking lot.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

Our wedding is an adult-only event, so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the kids who are 18 years and younger at home, so you can celebrate the night with us.

Question

Can I BYOB?

Answer

While you can always pre-game, we have strict rules about no outside alcohol at our venue. We will have beer, wine, and spirit available.

Question

What's the parking situation?

Answer

There is plenty of free parking and it is a quick walk to our venue on a paved path. If you need special assistance, the pathway to the venue is large enough for a car to pass through for drop-off only. We highly recommend Lyft and Uber or carpooling for safely getting home at the end of the night.

Question

Is the ceremony outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony seating is outdoors with chairs on pavement and there is a paved pathway from the parking lot to the covered reception tent, surrounded by some grass areas. Maybe leave the stilettos at home!

Question

Will there be alternative dietary food options?

Answer

We have vegetarian and GF food options available. And dessert is GF!
