It was October of 2020, and I was scrolling through Facebook, when I came across Lauren’s profile in people you may know. I clicked on her profile, and we didn’t have any friends in common at all. I sent her a friend request and a couple days later she accepted it. I remember thinking this is probably going be a long shot but I’m going to send her a message and hopefully she responds. I said something cheesy but not creepy like You have a really beautiful smile. She didn’t respond right away, which gave me plenty of time to stalk her profile. She responded and away we went. At the time, Lauren was in Cambodia opening a couple of Habit Burgers. We talked almost every day and began getting to know each other well. I loved talking to her. She was interesting and had things to say. She wasn’t boring and had so much to offer. She knew what she wanted in life and the more I talked to her the more I liked her. She was going to get home from Cambodia just before the holidays and had a lot of plans with her family and friends when she got back. I asked if she’d like to go out a little after the new year when things settled down for her. She said yes and I remember being really excited and a little nervous. It was almost the new year and I asked her if she’d like to meet up soon. She told me her and her ex-boyfriend reconnected, and they were going to give it another try. I thanked her for being honest and told her if it didn’t work out to give me a call. She said she would (which was a lie) and we briefly parted ways. About a week later, I was scrolling through a dating site and low and behold, who did I find? THE FUTURE MRS GUERRERO! I screen shot her profile and sent it to her saying Look who I found? She responded with Ya, that shit didn’t work out with my ex. When are we going out? I said Tomorrow! We went on our first date and got poke bowls. She was so much fun to be around and knew how to have a conversation. I loved every second I was with her. I told her my situation with the kids and that I was going to be moving to the bay area to apply for the police department and be closer to the kids. She said she wouldn’t move for a guy and that this probably wasn’t going to work out (guess that was a lie too). I told her the move wasn’t going to happen for about a year and a half and that we should just see where this goes. Who knows what can happen in that time. In February we took a trip to Paso Robles for some wine tasting on Valentines Day. We went to few wineries and had so much fun. I knew I had fallen in love with her and I wanted to tell her. We were in the Air B&B and enjoying a little wine. I was tickling her and she let out a little toot. I originally wrote fart and she made me change it to toot. I asked Was that a fart? She clinched her lips together and said Yup. After having a good laugh, I decided that was the best time to tell her I loved her. I was nervous. She knew something was on my mind and she told me to just say it. So, I did. I told her I loved her and thank God, she said it back! Throughout our time dating, Lauren would tell me many times that she was going to marry me. Every time she’d say it, she would look at me dead in my eyes, with a serious look in her eyes. I knew she meant it. And lord knows, I wanted to marry her too. Our time over the last, almost four years, has been absolutely amazing and I wouldn’t change anything. We have had a lot of amazing times and we’ve had some hard times. We’ve had times of adjustment and transition when we moved in together in Morgan Hill when I joined the police department. We’ve welcomed our son Connor into this world together and I have watched Lauren become the most amazing mother I could have ever imagined for our son. And I have also watched her become an incredible stepmother to my two children and love them as if they were her own. She is nothing short of a blessing from God and I thank him every day for her. And now I get to call her my wife. This is our story
