How We Met

First comes soccer then comes love!

K: In 2015, after a lot of soul searching I transferred to George Mason University to finish my Division I college soccer career. Unbeknownst to me, this single decision would alter the course of the rest of my life. In July of 2015 a few days before preseason, there was a captain's practice held so all the new and old players could get to know each other before preseason actually got underway. Everyone was very nice and welcoming, but there was one person that definitely stuck out from all the rest. Maybe it was because she was taller than me, had platinum blonde hair, lots of tattoos and piercings, or the fact that she looked like she could beat me up if she really wanted to, but there was just something about her! Little did I know she would soon become one of my closest friends on the team. As preseason went on I found myself drawn to her, we spent all of our time together on the field and off, it felt so natural. As each day passed I found myself not just looking at my friend but something more. At practices I would catch myself staring at her when the sun would catch her skin and she would shine from the sweat or in my room I would be waiting for her to text me back (or snapchat or instagram message - we were very connected, should've known!) Then we kissed for the first time after a Labor Day party and from that moment on I knew. My heart has been hers ever since. 8 years together and I still get the same feeling I did back when we first met in 2015. She will always be my one true love :) S: The first time I saw Kirsten was one of the best days of my life. She was walking down the hill to our practice field at George Mason University. The first thing I noticed was her beautiful bright blue eyes and her big, goofy but beautiful smile, on top of her loud but iconic and contagious laugh. I remember thinking to myself "oh my god this girl is so hot and cute, play it cool don't be weird..." but she was so silly, outgoing, and cool that I naturally let my guard down. I then found out she played goal keeper which turned out to be somewhat ironic since I played forward. We spent a lot of time together on the field and off the field. We just clicked, it felt like I had finally found my other half and we instantly became best friends. I knew I had pretty much fallen for Kirsten as soon as I met her. We had been vibing together for a few weeks as just friends but I flirted with her every chance I got lol. After lots of drinks at a party, she stayed the night and we were chillin in my bed watching Hercules on Netflix, and since I was still drunk, I decided I was going to shoot my shot. Kissing Kirsten for the first time was the coolest feeling I have ever felt...fireworks, butterflies, warmness in my chest, instantly I knew she was the one. 8 years later, after ups and downs, highs and lows, through the good and the bad, in sickness and in health, she is my ride or die. Unconditional love is the best kind of love and I'm so thankful and blessed to have found someone incredible like her to share it with. Kirsten is truly my best friend and the love of my life :)

Question

When is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

Please RSVP by September 25, 2023. If you cannot attend our wedding, please indicate your regrets so we can plan accordingly. If you RSVP'd attending and need to update your record please text Kirsten or Sarah as soon as possible.

Question

How many seats are reserved for me at the wedding?

Answer

You know when you have one of those moments and you're just existing, living your life all happy and then you realize you forgot to do something and you have an out of body psychic moment (like raven from that's so raven if you know what I mean!) Well that happened to us and we realized we forgot to put a number in the RSVP section on the back of the invites. So, to clarify, the number of seats we've reserved for you are based on the names on the invites. Single name = 1 seat, single name + guest = 2 seats, two names = 2 seats and so on :)

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We were very intentional with our guest list, so if a plus one was planned for you, your Save the Date and Wedding Invitation will include your name followed by their name or "and Guest." Thank you for your understanding!

Question

Are children invited to the wedding?

Answer

We love your little ones! However, we have decided to keep our wedding and reception an adults-only event with the exception of a few immediate family members. We encourage you to use this evening as a date night!

Question

What if I have a dietary restriction?

Answer

You can include this information in the RSVP, our caterer is very mindful of all dietary restrictions.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

We'd love to see our family and friends get dressed up for our big day. Let's dress to impress and then dance the night away! Dress code is semi-formal attire. No jeans or white attire please!

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Both the ceremony and reception will be indoors in the same space, and the cocktail hour (weather permitting) will be just outside of the glass garage doors of the building.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Fall in DC is one of our favorite times of the year...insert wedding smack dab in the middle of it! From the brisk temperatures to the changing leaves and everything in between what's not to love?! Please plan on it being on the cooler end just in case with temperatures between 50 and 70 degrees. Most of the day's festivities will be inside the venue. Fingers crossed for good weather, but we will update about a week out for more up to date weather info.

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

Please look to arrive 30 minutes prior to the ceremony so you have plenty of time to grab a drink and find your seat :)

Question

Is there parking available?

Answer

Since our wedding is in DC, there is limited parking near the venue with most of it being street parking only. If you must drive, there is a parking lot about 0.5 miles from the venue at 1520 Eckington Pl NE, Washington, DC 20002. Otherwise, we suggest Uber or Lyft to simplify your travel needs.

Question

Can I take pictures?

Answer

We are having an "unplugged" ceremony (no phones or cameras). The greatest gift you can give us is being fully present as we say "I do." After the ceremony, feel free to take as many photos and videos as you'd like and share them on our Google Drive that we'll have linked on the wedding day.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Yes, the drinks are on us, please party accordingly!

Question

What time will the reception end?

Answer

The reception will end promptly at 11 PM and for anyone that still wants to party we're planning on hitting up at least one bar after the reception in DC, details to follow!
