We met in October 2016 on a party bus heading to a Bills game for our friend's birthday. From there it took us two more years and a few more brief interactions until finally the summer of 2018 came around. I was hanging out at the Greece Tap Room with, funny enough, the same mutual friends at our initial meeting. I tell ya, it was as if the crowd had parted on queue and Dave walked right up to me. He gave a hug but then quickly scooted off. Dave later told me it was because he thought my brother Matt, who was sitting next to me while this happened, was my boyfriend!
A few days later after the meeting in the Tap Room, and clarifying my brother was very much not my boyfriend, Dave asked if I'd like to have dinner with him. For background, It happened to be a Wednesday and he'd forgotten he had his darts league. LOL. Dave comes up with the idea of instead of fully cancelling we should meet up after his league for a drink and conversation. Long story short- Awesome date! We ended up going to his backyard for a little bonfire and more conversation. Possibly trying to woo me with his top notch fire tending skills? We laughed and talked all night. As it turned out, we had quite a bit in common. I got home around 12:30am and our date started at 7pm!
Dave was very clever and smooth with the proposal. He said we should plan a getaway weekend in the Finger Lakes wine country. This is where I unknowingly set the scene for my own engagement. The winery had only two other guests besides us and it was very private, quiet, and snowy. Knowing (for the most part) what to expect definitely kept my anxiety and suspicions very low. How I didn't figure it out is a mystery. We're dressed very nice, Dave has his focus face on, and I'm totally clueless. Cut back to the room suite- To make a very sweet and long story short- we change into sweats and put Harry Potter on the tv. He was so calm y'all. Dave then said we should go on the balcony and check out the lake and stars. While we're stargazing, Dave said something that made me turn around, and there he was on one knee. He asked me to marry him, and without a doubt in my mind, I said yes!!! Here's to many more life adventures together <3
