Our story starts on November 21st, 2020. My mom was working at a winery and since Covid began, we would have family wine nights on Fridays where my mom brought home wine and the fam played different board games. After a couple bottles, my dad said there was a guy at work named Rich I should meet. For those of you who don’t know, both my dad and I (and apparently this guy named Rich, work at Holman, formerly known as ARI). I asked my dad which department Rich worked in and he said Finance, to which I immediately said no. Actually, it was a double no, with my dad being the one to suggest him and the fact that he worked in Finance. However, my thoughts got the best of me, and I looked up his Instagram and I realized Rich is actually pretty handsome. I followed him, he followed me back, and the next thing I knew, I had a DM from Rich from ARI. My dad was thrilled. Rich and I only sent a couple of DMs back and forth before we had plans for the next day to get a beer and ice cream at Dippy’s. The next day, our 2-stop date turned into 5 stops and 9 hours. When I got home, my dad didn’t believe for a second that I was actually out with Rich from Finance for that long, but the truth is, we hit it off. We have been together since ❤
When deciding on how to propose to Jenna, I knew she didn’t want some huge attention-seeking event. I decided on proposing at Dalton Farms’ tulip festival because I thought it would be more intimate and I knew Jenna loves tulips. I had visited the location the week before and the owner took me around to show me where it may be best to propose. My plan was to propose here, and then surprise Jenna with a party at our house with our friends and family. On the day of the proposal while Jenna was out, Jenna’s parents and me started setting up the party and covered the cameras around our house just in case Jenna wanted to check in on Millie. When my parents and I got to the farm, the owner told me where to hide and wait until Jenna showed up. After waiting for about 20 minutes, I saw Jenna arrive, but she turned the wrong way… Then one of the farm’s employees rode her tractor up to us and said that we could not hide there. As I am already stressing out, I tried to explain that I had been in touch with the owner and he said it was ok. She said she would give me 5 more minutes and then would come back. The five minutes passed, Jenna was still not around, and the employee came back, telling us again we had to move. I tried to remain calm and said Jenna would be here any minute, and to please just let us stay here. Finally, I saw Jenna start walking towards where we were hiding. Since I was stressed and nervous by now, I started walking up to Jenna without her seeing me. My parents started trying to get their phones out for pictures really quick because I was thinking I just want to propose before I got yelled at again by an employee. Jenna looked very surprised when she saw me, and I think I sort of blacked out when I got on one knee, but I DEFINITELY remember her saying YES! Everyone at the farm was congratulating us, and after taking a million pictures, we got back to our house to celebrate. Jenna was shocked to see so many people in our house, and we all had a great time celebrating our proposal!
