Our Story

After talking online for nearly a month, we struggled to find a day to meet up (Chris was out of town “looking at hay with his uncle” and Shelby in lifeguard and fire training), we finally decided on November 16th, 2019 to meet at Garibaldi Portside Bistro. Chris waited patiently at the restaurant as Shelby was about 15 minutes late (due to having the wrong estimate on driving time). Once we were both there together, the conversation flowed so easily that we talked an hour past close of the restaurant! During our first date, we learned how much we had in common, from the music we liked, food, movies, and the fact that Shelby was working with Chris’s aunt and a different aunt had been roommates with Shelby’s mom in nursing school! It was hard to believe we had never met each other before. We went back out, just three short days later and continued to see each other despite the challenges of the pandemic which occurred only four months after we met. We went back to Garibaldi Bistro each year afterwards to celebrate first meeting each other, except for the fourth year, where Chris suggested going to Shelby’s favorite beach, where he proposed. We have in the last four years together, lived in our first apartment, Meredith adopted Chris, Chris received his Optometry license, we adopted a kitten, Shelby went back to school, we bought our first house and now we are ready to continue to grow our lives together, surrounded by our friends and family in September.

Semi-formal or dressy casual. Decor style is rustic and romantic with fall hues and wedding party colors of shades of dusty mauve and mystic blue. Please note the venue is all indoors, it may be warm, but we will do our best to keep it cool.

There will be another event occurring at the event tent behind the Old Mill. The Old Mill has reserved their lot for our wedding guests only (please look for signage). You may also park behind the Old Mill, which is public parking, but will also be used by the other event.
