How We Met

August 31 2013

We met at a bar, during a birthday party for someone neither of us knew. Both of us were there with friends, who we guess may have known the birthday-haver. In the backseat of a car headed to a second location, Hilary revealed that she had just finished watching Twin Peaks for the first time. Mateo suavely mentioned that he was raised in North Bend during the filming of the original series and Fire Walk with Me. This was the best pickup line ever.

David Lynch-Themed Costumes

Please wear a costume inspired by the works of David Lynch. There will be prizes. Yes, this is real. Yes, you can wear flannel. Do NOT come as Laura Palmer or the white dress version of Alice Wakefield (or that scary person behind the Winkies). Because we know not everyone is obsessed with David Lynch we have created a website with some suggestions: https://padlet.com/edwardsht/costume-prep-help-ixsyovygvltdluno or to view it as a slideshow: https://padlet.com/edwardsht/costume-prep-help-ixsyovygvltdluno/slideshow

Hotel

Four Points by Sheraton Downtown Seattle Center

601 Roy Street, Seattle, WA 98109

This hotel is within walking distance of the venue.

Travel Note

The Palmer House

We moved to be closer to this house. Just kidding, but it is like ten minutes from where we live. The owner is a huge Twin Peaks fan and will probably let you inside if you go there.

Travel Note

Snoqualmie Falls

Half an hour outside of Seattle, the iconic waterfall featured in Twin Peaks, where Mateo proposed. The exterior shots of The Great Northern Hotel were filmed at the Salish Lodge next to the Falls.

Travel Note

Kiana Lodge

Interior shots of The Great Northern, including Ben Horne's office, and the discovery of Laura Palmer's body were filmed here.

Travel Note

RR Diner

Mateo grew up with Twede's Cafe as the town's favorite diner. David Lynch used it as Norma's RR Diner, and Mateo totally blew Hilary's mind by taking her to a real life Twin Peaks set as an early date.

Travel Note

Roadhouse

There's owls in the roadhouse.

Travel Note

Parking

There is free street parking in the area around The Ruins on Sundays. There is also a Diamond Parking lot about a minute walk from the venue, which charges $6 for 2 hours.
