It all started at a Labor Day party 2021 neither wanted to attend if you can believe that! Hay was invited but tried on several attempts to find something else to do that day. He had contacted a friend about plans to meet up in Columbus. This friend ended up canceling on him to attend a concert with someone else. He had a haircut that day in Norwalk. So, after his hair appointment, he visited his dad and Uncle Justin. They had been spending the day together having drinks. A rare event, indeed! They begged him to stay; typically, this would NEVER be turned down by Hayden. Something told him to go to the party; he didn't know why; it wasn't people that he had spent a lot of time with anymore since his transition into his new career in Stow. He knew he'd only know a handful of people if lucky. He was still compelled, not knowing why… But he had to. At the time, Star spent most of her free time with her parents. They were invited to this Labor Day party and graciously accepted it, simultaneously asking if their daughter could come. Star's mom presented the party to her, knowing she had nothing to do, and let her know that she bet everyone would love for her to make some of her infamous Jello shots! Of course, Star accepted. A party, and she gets to bring the Jello shots? Say no more! Two days before the party, she started prepping for the shots with enough ingredients to make over 250 shots! By the time the day arrived for the party, Star was exhausted. She approached her mom, telling her to take the shots with you; I'm fatigued; I'd rather stay in tonight. They're all packed up and ready to go. Five minutes before leaving the house, Star's mom tried again, saying, "Star, just come; you never know who you're going to meet." It was at that moment she reluctantly agreed to go. It didn't take long for her to notice a handsome fella playing cornhole across the yard. She asked one of the girlfriends of another coworker, "Who's he??" Morgan's face lit up, and she said that's Hayden. Star laughed so hard hearing his name and asked, "Let me guess, he was born in 1992?!" Morgan then pulled up Facebook to confirm, and it was 1996. Hysterical to Star at the moment. Star wanted all the information, where's he from, how old is he, is he single… With each answer, Star said, "Nope." That's too far, nope, he's too young, nope, nope, NOPE! Star couldn't keep her eyes off Hayden as the night went on. She tried to flirt with him the best she knew how from the Taco Bell sauce packets, but he wasn't having it. He, indeed, was ignoring all her advancements! Star wasn't having it and just yelled across the crowd, "Well, are you just going to ignore my advances all night, or are you going to come to have some Jello shots with me?!" The entire crowd went silent; she was so embarrassed. They started talking, next thing we knew, it was dark, and it started sprinkling. Star asked Hayden to grab an umbrella with her from her car. They joked about how their cars were nearly the same color and were impressed with each other's ride. As Star opened the hatch and pulled the umbrella out, she turned around, and Hayden stood just behind her. She closed the hatch, grabbed his shirt, and pulled him in for a kiss in the rain. From there, the night didn't end; she took him to her local favorite watering hole. An actual hole in the wall, if you will. Where if it rained, you were getting rained on. They brought all the leftover Jello shots and shared them with the entire bar. They were having a ball, and one of her favorite songs started playing, Tennessee Whiskey. She grabbed him by the arm, dragging him to dance in the middle of the bar for their first dance. The attraction was evident; you could see it in their eyes. They closed that little watering hole down, but that's not where this story ends… The next day, she drove to Stow for their first date at Burger Fi, where neither could even fathom eating food. They took to-go boxes and have been inseparable since. ♡
