By Nick: 12 years ago this journey began at Naval Air Station Pensacola. On November 10th, the Marine Corps Birthday, I met this amazing woman Cheyanne. I thought she was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen and obviously I’m super shy at first and thought she was way out of my league so I didn’t try to make any moves on her. She was stationed over in California and I was stationed in North Carolina. Over the years, life led us in different directions. We were both married and had kids. Sometimes life threw us some curve balls and somehow we both ended up single after some rough times and heartache but everything happens for a reason right? I saw her make a post on Facebook about why she was getting suggestions on how to fix her marriage. She commented saying “why is this being shown to me?” In my brain, I saw that as her saying she’s single and not married so I just happened to reach out to her and just catch up with how life has been. The more we talked, the more I started to see who she really was. I remember her as the toughest, fiercest woman I’ve ever seen. She started telling me about herself, and there were some strange similarities. Her birthday is April 15, mines the 14th. Both of our dads has a birthday on April 17. We both had girls of our own. We both have had similar experiences with previous relationships and the more we talked, the more I started to fall for her. I’ll never forget our first phone call. I was talking to her in the gym parking lot (Cheyanne is the only woman I would skip the gym for). And Mary happened to come into the car. I introduced myself as Cheyanne’s friend from the Marine days and then Mary gave me a full on interview. She asked me if I would treat them right and love them always. Mind you this is our first phone call. Little did I know, that phone call would change everything. Some things happen on accident and are great and amazing. Cheyanne came into my life where we both thought we wouldn’t find anyone. She’s everything to me. Today, she’s still the fiercest woman I know. But she’s also the most honest, caring, hardworking, loving, selfless, beautiful, and amazing woman in the world to me. She’s the heart of our family and Mary, Millie and I are so lucky to have her. She’s given me an amazing family to be a part of. Sometimes life is hard, and you’re tested in many ways. But for me, it was worth every ounce of pain and sorrow that I’ve endured because it led me to you Cheyanne. And I’ll never stop appreciating you and loving you.
