We met thanks to our dear friend Dani Karaki Suarez! Dani invited Ashley to join a group of her college best friends on a Wednesday night to play board games at Bangin' Banjos Brewery (now known as Pompano Beach Brewing Company). That night, Ashley met Deon and our board game group began getting together every week for games, comedy shows, concerts, and so much more. Through all that fantastic time spent together, Ashley and Deon fell in love as they realized just how comfortable and easy it was to spend hours and hours of time together. We're excited to bring you all back to that very same brewery to celebrate our wedding reception a little more than 5 years after that night that we met!

For anyone who knows Deon, he can pick up and learn just about any instrument and any song. He's also written a handful of songs and mashups that are 🔥🔥🔥🔥! In preparation to propose, Deon wrote a song for Ashley on ukulele. He'd sneak the instrument to work to write and practice during his lunch breaks so that Ashley wouldn't have a clue. On a trip to Orlando with Stephanie and Matt, Deon orchestrated a lunch gathering at Yardhouse between our theme park trips with Deon's family and a surprise visit from Ashley's mom! On the day on the proposal, we arrive to Yardhouse and sit outside, Deon begins to sing and as Ashley listens to the words she quickly realizes what is happening. After tears and an emphatic yes, Ashley's mom came out from inside the restaurant to add to the surprises and celebration! Deon often brings out the ukulele to sing this song to Ashley. Ashley maintains it is the best song he has ever written.
