It all began on August 20th, 2014.... One day out of the blue, Ryan decided to text one of her friends that she hadn't spoken to in a while (shout out Emily Sanders!). After catching up with Emily over text, she was invited to come hang out with Emily and some of her friends who Ryan had never met. Those friends turned out to be some boys from Chaska High School, Chanhassen's rival school. Ryan agreed to tag along and met up with the group at Tommy's Malt Shop. Wouldn’t you know…one of these "Chaska boys," was Corey. From that day, Corey and Ryan hit it off immediately...as friends. Over the next few years, they would text each other nonstop, hung out together with the friend group, and even attended a few Homecoming and Prom dances together. Corey eventually admitted to Ryan that he liked her more than a friend, but he "didn't want to ruin the friendship." It wasn't until then that Ryan finally admitted to Corey (and to herself), that she liked him as more than a friend too. During their senior year, they both committed to attend Iowa State University (Roll Clones!) for their own reasons. The day after high school graduation, June 14th, 2016, Corey and Ryan decided to give a romantic relationship a try! The first official date? Seeing The Conjuring 2 (nothing says “romantic” like a horror movie, right?). Fast forward exactly eight years and one day later, Corey got down on one knee in the pouring rain by Lake Minnetonka in Excelsior. Despite the storm throwing a wrench in Corey’s plans, it turned out to be the happiest day of their lives so far. Now, as they approach their ninth anniversary, Ryan and Corey can’t wait to celebrate their love with their closest friends and family in a place that holds so many wonderful memories. See you at the lake!
