Flights ✈️

Dublin Airport is the closest airport to the venue at Langtons Hotel, it's approximately 1.5hr from the airport. There are direct flights to Dublin via Aer Lingus, Iceland Air, etc. from Pittsburgh, Baltimore, or Washington DC. There are cheaper options available for flights that include a short layover in Iceland or Portugal (approx. 1hr). Flights from DC are a lot cheaper, so we will be driving from Pittsburgh to DC. It is only $10 per day to park your car at a nearby lot or hotel including a free shuttle to and from airport.

Hotels in Dublin

We will be arriving in Dublin the evening of April 5th and will be spending a few nights in Dublin prior to heading to Kilkenny for the wedding. There are many hotels to choose from in downtown Dublin. We are choosing a hotel that is walking distance from St. Stephen’s Green Park since that is central to many other landmarks and attractions. If you plan on staying in Dublin before heading to Kilkenny, here are some recommendations. Hotels 5 Star 1. The Merrion Hotel 2. Westbury Hotel 4 Star 1. Radisson Blu Royal Hotel 2. Clayton Hotel Charlemont 3 Star 1. Stauntons on the Green 2. Buswells Hotel

Tipping Culture in Ireland

Tipping in Ireland, for the most part (there are exceptions) is completely optional and entirely at your discretion. When to tip: It’s pretty standard to leave between a 10 and 15% tip in places where you’ve had a meal (e.g. restaurants, pubs and cafes). If you're part of a large group, a service charge may be added to your bill so check before tipping. When it's not necessary: In a Pub - it isn't the norm to tip the person that’s serving you a drink. They won’t expect it so don’t stress about it. However, if you're receiving table service it would be custom to leave a small tip.

Question

Will I need an international data plan?

Answer

If you plan to use cell service during your travels, be sure to coordinate with your provider before you leave. You can opt in for international data during the duration of your time abroad. For those wishing to explore on their own outside of the wedding day, we recommend downloading offline maps using google maps. Another alternative is using an offline GPS app such as “Sygic” to ensure you always have a sense of direction even in areas with poor cell reception.
