How We Met and Our Journey Since...

In June 2006, we met at a party in North Carolina celebrating a life event of a good friend of Kevin's that was held on Lake Hickory. Kevin was living in Jackson, MS at the time and came back to NC celebrate with his friends. Cheryl was living in Atlanta and was invited to the same party by one of Kevin's childhood classmates she worked with. They met during the party, and she never thought they would see each other again. Little did she know that during the following week, he tried to call her but had the wrong phone number. They finally connected and began a long-distance relationship between Jackson, MS and Atlanta, GA. In 2009, Kevin's job took him to New Orleans, LA and they agreed to continue the relationship but knew they needed to be in the same town if it was going to be long-term. In early 2010, Cheryl moved to NOLA, and they continued their relationship, renting a place, then buying and renovating a house in 2015. In 2021, Hurrican Ida had us evacuated to Texas. While there, Cheryl was offered a position within her company but would need to relocate to Virginia. With the generous help of their New Orleans friends, they prepared and sold their home in New Orleans and moved to Richmond, VA in early 2022 along with their beloved pup, Banjo. They purchased a house and have enjoyed living among the trees, deer, birds and cooler weather. Fast forward to May 2024... Cheryl flew to San Diego, CA for work the week of her birthday. She kissed Kevin goodbye at 3:00 AM not knowing that Kevin would be taking a flight later that morning to surprise her at her hotel that evening. Cheryl would be caught off-guard by the extremely romantic gesture. Little did she know that he would propose to her early the next morning on her birthday using his grandmother's beautiful ring. It has now been over 18 years since we met, which leads us to inviting our immediate family and close friends to celebrate yet another chapter of our relationship. Each of you have contributed to our journey in a meaningful way, and we couldn't be more thrilled to have you with us at our home to celebrate this next part of our life together.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

We kindly ask that you RSVP no later than April 4, 2025.

Question

Where is the celebration?

Answer

The ceremony/celebration will take place at our home in North Chesterfield, VA (11420 Edenberry Dr.). It will be outside, but we plan to have tents in case there is rain or need a break from the sun.

Question

What time should we be there?

Answer

Please arrive no later than 4:15 PM. Grab a drink and a snack before the short ceremony begins. Then, be ready to celebrate!

Question

Is there parking at the house for the ceremony/reception?

Answer

No. Our home is located on a busy main road in the neighborhood. For everyone's safety as well as respect for the neighbors, we strongly prefer for everyone to park at the Four Points parking lot (9901 Midlothian Turnpike, Richmond, VA) located about two miles from the house. We will have a dedicated shuttle that will bring you to/from our home at your leisure beginning at 3:45 PM in time for the pre-ceremony drinks and appetizers.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Although this is a wedding, no need to wear a suit or dress unless you so choose. The celebration will be outdoors. Therefore, please check the weather in advance in case a light jacket is needed. Part of the celebration will be held in the grass, so keep this in mind. Most likely, heels will sink into the grass. Bottom line, be comfortable!

Question

Will food be served?

Answer

Yes! Appetizers and drinks will be served during the pre-ceremony gathering with dinner served after the ceremony.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Children are wonderful, but parents deserve a break every so often. Thus, the celebration is adults-only with the exception of children in our immediate family.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

While we don't expect any gifts as most are spending the money to travel to the wedding, we know there are some who stated they want to give a gift. Although we have shared a life together for a very long time already, there are a few things we could use. We are registered through the registry section on this website.

Question

The day of the wedding, who do I call/text if I have questions?

Answer

The day of the wedding, we kindly ask that you not contact us directly as we may not be able to respond quickly. Therefore, please reach out to either Cheryl's niece, Morgan Carpenter (317-413-5964) or her sister, Michelle Himelick (317-691-1302).
