It is very important to us to incorporate both Indian and Western Culture into our special day! Therefore, we will have a baraat and varmala ceremony, followed by a traditional western civil ceremony. Cocktail hour and reception is to follow, with delicious cuisine from both New Orleans and Indian cultures!

What is a Baraat?

Answer

A baraat is a celebratory wedding procession for the groom involving live music and dancing. Similar to a New Orleans second line, however a baraat takes place prior to the wedding ceremony.

What is a Varmala Ceremony?

Answer

The Varmala involves the bride and groom exchanging flower garlands, symbolizing their union.

Where will each event take place?

Answer

Just like a second line, the Baraat will be held on the street surrounding the hotel. There will be staff directing guests upon arrival. The ceremony will then take place in the courtyard located on the third floor of the Ritz Carlton. The reception is to follow and will be held in the Grand Ballroom

What is the Dress Code?

Answer

We highly encourage black tie attire or Indian formal wear, however, cocktail attire is also acceptable. Suit jacket will be required. We thank you in advance for adhering to the dress code.

Can I Bring My Children?

Answer

While we love your little ones, we do ask that you honor our request that this is an adults only event. Unless immediate family, no guests under twenty one years of age will be allowed into the reception venue.

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

While we would love to be able to celebrate with everyone, due to venue constraints we have a strict guest count that we will be enforcing. You will be notified if a guest has been reserved in your name. Thank you for your understanding!

Where can I purchase Indian Attire if I wish to wear it?

Answer

We welcome any and all of our guests to wear Indian attire if they so desire! Recommended sites to purchase from would include House of Indya, Lashkaraa, Kalki, Kynah, The Saree Room, and Ustav Fashions. Please keep in mind delivery times when purchasing from these sites as shipping will be international.

I am traveling from out of town. Where should I stay?

We have a block of rooms at both the Ritz Carlton as well as the Marriott Courtyard, which is connected to the wedding venue. You can use the links below in 'Travel' to book your reservation!

Where Should I Park?

Answer

Valet Parking at the Ritz Carlton is available at a special event rate of $20. There is also street parking available for purchase, surrounding the hotel. You may purchase this as well as add time to your parking reservation, utilizing the ParkMobile website or ParkMobile Application available on iPhone and Android. Park Mobile allows you to reserve your parking space for 2 hours at a time; therefore, you will need to add time on the app if you plan to come to come for the baraat and stay through the reception. Parking is free in New Orleans after 7 PM; therefore there is no need to extend your reservation after 7 PM! We also highly encourage rideshare apps such as Uber and Lyft as there will be alcohol served at this event.
