Joel was a drummer at Bethel Christain Fellowship down in the cities, Chantal was leaving Cambridge to attend JobCorps. Chantal met some friends at JobCorps who invited her to the church Joel was attending. Joel helped out in the youth group and Chantal attended youth group, Chantal was 18. the church eventually split to make a Saint Paul campus and a Minneapolis campus. Chantal headed off to the Minneapolis campus and Joel stayed. they stayed connected via Facebook but only liking post here and there. fast forward a few years life happened for both Chantal and Joel both again still staying in touch via likes on Facebook likes once in a blue moon. Early July 2020 Joel reached out to Chantal asking if she still lived in Cambridge, Chantal said yes. they talked for a bit and set a date to meet up and catch up after all these years, Joel was at the Wilderness Fellowship and would swing by and get lunch and catch up. July 11th 2020 Joel picked up Chantal, they went to Pine Brook, and then for a walk at Springvale, they talked and talked. and at the end of their time at Springvale park, Joel looks at Chantal and says " I would like to know if you would like to see where God will lead us". they then ended the night as Joel had an hour and six min drive to get home.

July 29th Joel biked from Hinkley to Duluth, after his bike ride they headed back to camp, on the way there Joel stated he was not that hungry, so Chantal was just going to Put the pre cooked dinner in the crock pot and go swimming, offering Joel to stay back and rest or come to the pool and rest on a chair, as she knows swimming is not his favorite. once back at camp Joel was hungry so Chantal just heated up dinner on the camping stove. after dinner Chantal said I don't want to do dishes I want to go swim before they close at 9. again she offered for Joel to stay back and rest or rest at the pool, Joel stated he would actually like to go swimming. about and hour later Chantal states she is ready to head back to camp and Joel says that he is too and tells Chantal she needs to open her gift. Chantal was excited, they got back to camp did the dishes, and sat at the fire, Chantal excitedly asked to open the gift, Joel said "yea I guess". He then states to Chantal that she needed to open the gift first and the card last, Chantal gave him the look of ok weirdo. Chantal then places her hands under the bag and softly moves it up and down and jokingly says "You got me a kitten" Chantal then proceeds to open the gift it was a stuffed cat. they both laughed. Chantal then opens up the card, the card was a friendship card, she reads it and Joel added to the card, You are more than a friend, and more than a girlfriend, how about being my Wife?
