Hotel
Please click on the button below to view available accommodations. We highly recommend booking your stay at one of these locations so you have free access to the shuttles on the wedding day. Otherwise, you will be responsible for driving yourself on the wedding day which can be very dangerous as the roads are dark and windy at night.
Flight
We recommend flying into Florence (~45 min driving or train to Montevarchi) or Rome (~2.5 hour driving or train to Montevarchi). You could also fly into London or another European hub and then find separate flights to Italy on a local airline.
Rental Car
We highly recommend getting a rental car in Florence or Rome to get yourself to and from the venue during the weekend. Montevarchi is a small town with little taxi access (there are only 4 taxis in the area and they don't work at night) and there are no Ubers available at all. Driving around the area is easy (they drive on the right side of the road!) and the best way to explore. When you book a car, you can specify an automatic if that is important to you. Don’t forget to get your International Driving Permit at your nearest AAA to skip extra fees if you get pulled over! : https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html
Shuttle
June 8, 2024 10:30 am - 2:00 am
If you stay in our hotel block (details above), then we will have a shuttle bus available on the wedding day to take you from your hotel to the church, then to the reception, and then back to your hotel at night. If you do not book in the hotel block then you will not have any access to the shuttle bus and will have to drive yourself on the wedding day (Ubers and taxis will not be available).
Train
There is a train station in Montevarchi, which you can get to directly from Florence (~45 min local train) or Rome (with a stopover in Florence). If you don’t want to get a rental car or want to explore both options, you can take the train from Rome or Florence to Montevarchi. You can use trenitalia.com to book tickets.
Travel Note
Here is a document that our coordinator put together of step-by-step instructions for how to get to Montevarchi by car or by public transit from Rome, Florence, Pisa, or Perugia. One important reminder here is to remember to validate any local or regional train ticket before boarding by using one of the small white machines at the entrance to every train platform (unless you print the ticket online). Travel Note
Our coordinator also created a document with detailed driving instructions that will help you navigate to the wedding venue. It includes pictures of every turn and a link to this video of the final approach (which Google Maps gives up on, actually).
