Jordan and Sami met at a Colorado Winter Camp where 600+ local High School students, youth leaders, worship leaders and pastors made their way up to Crooked Creek Camp in Frasier, Colorado on February 10th, 2023. Sami was there with Southeast Church leading a group of 10th grade girls. Jordan was there leading worship with some of his best friends. Both of them set the intention for the weekend to be about the students and creating a space for them to experience Jesus for the first time or in a new way. Certainly nothing to do with meeting a new love interest. Sami will be the first to tell you that Youth Ministry is wild, chaotic, dramatic, fun and so full of hunger for the Holy Spirit and this weekend was nothing short of that. Over the two day retreat, Sami slept for approximately 4 hours. Between nursing injuries from slips at the outdoor hot tub and calling paramedics, cheering on her students' volleyball team, going crazy during worship sets, to talking about Jesus and life with students until 3:00am, there wasn't much time to rest anyway. However, there seemed to be enough time for moments where her eyes found Jordan's in the drum cage, at the dining hall, and across the gym during the volleyball tournament. (He would say that Sami stared him down the whole weekend, but she would say that there was little to no control over where her eyes looked due to sleep deprivation.... although, he is probably right!) On the final day of the Youth Camp, they accidentally crossed paths and shared a conversation for maybe 30 seconds before a student they both knew interrupted them to ask for Jordan's Instagram. Sami was nervous having the opportunity to speak to the guy she couldn't stop looking at, so she ran to join her 10th grade girls knowing someone from her church had his Socials. Shortly after, everyone packed up and loaded into the buses to go home. Unfortunately, the student that had Jordan's information was not on Sami's bus. Naturally, she grew impatient and went on an FBI intelligence recon mission to find him and drop him a follow. Positioned perfectly, the ball was now in Jordan's court. Two days passed and Sami finally received a message from Jordan (apparently, he needed a little encouragement from a co-worker to reach out). Coincidentally, they later found out that Sami actually went to Middle School with this co-worker and they shared several mutual friends! Since that initial message, they have never stopped talking. Jordan asked her out on a first date a couple weeks later and the rest is history! They pursued each other's hearts and made so many memories along the way. Very quickly, they both knew that the other was their perfect match. They bring out the best in each other, they challenge each other, they encourage each other and most of all, they chase after the Lord together. Sami and Jordan are beyond excited for this next chapter together and are so honored that you are a part of it!
