Even though we wouldn't meet until well into our 20's, we have always been close to each other. We grew up just a few miles apart and even attended rival high schools! I went to Georgia Southern to begin my college journey, and Conner followed me down a year later, go Eagles! We even lived in the same apartment complex and both loved to get margaritas at Fuzzy's Tacos. After graduating Georgia Southern University, we both moved back up to the Atlanta area to begin our careers and be closer to family. When we finally met, we realized how we had always been in the same place at the same time, just destined to run into one another.
Our first date was a cold night in January of 2020. Both of us had the first date jitters. I was so anxious I almost canceled, and Conner was almost too nervous kiss me goodnight. Our nerves faded and we stayed out talking until two in the morning. Neither of us wanted the night to end! Shortly after, Covid shut the whole world down. We spent lots of time going on hikes in the North Georgia Mountains and spending weekends at Sarah's family house on Lake Hartwell.
Conner applied for his dream job! There was only one thing wrong with it, it was in Texas. Just before Christmas in 2021, he moved to an itty-bitty apartment north of Fort Worth. We flew back and forth to see each other as often as we could, but it just wasn't enough. Six months later, I followed him with our two cats, Tali and Goose. We spent five months exploring our little town of Roanoke, drinking margaritas and eating Tex-Mex and barbecue. Just before Thanksgiving, we moved into our first home in Fort Worth and have been settling in ever since.
