Our bride & groom met sometime in 2008 at the University of Delaware. Lauren would frequently visit her best friend (our Matron of Honor, also Lauren) who went to college and lived in the same dorms as Andy. It was an unmemorable meet-cute (no, really, they don't remember) but we know that it was probably in friendly passing, around 18-19 years old. As the years continued, Lauren and Andy would cross paths, at music festivals, concerts, and friend’s gatherings. Flash forward 10 years later, at Lauren’s wedding (our Matron of Honor). On the dance floor, our bride & groom found each other quite often (there’s pictures). Lauren was interested, but it took some time for Andy to catch on. He finally did, at the after party, where they shared their first kiss. Andy also invited Lauren to visit him in Colombia, the first country on his three month South America backpacking adventure. Lauren told him to ask her again when the old fashioned’s had worn off. Their first official date was in NYC, two days later. They met for appetizers & drinks at Versa. When it closed, they moved their date to the only other open restaurant in the area, Hooters. When that closed, Andy finally walked Lauren to Penn Station. Two days later Lauren bought a plane ticket to Colombia, for the end of the month. When she told friends, they were concerned, but somewhere deep down Lauren knew this was a chance she had to take. The trip to Colombia went so well, they decided to continue dating long distance. Lauren wasn’t the biggest fan, so decided to take another flight to spend a week with Andy in Lima, Peru. While there, working remotely, they talked about how they could live a life of travel. Which is when they discovered an entire community of people living and working out of their vans. That’s when they decided, once Andy came back to the states & Lauren’s lease was up, to do the same. In May of 2020, Andy & Lauren moved out to Butler, Pennsylvania and started to build out their van. A project they thought would take 6-9 months, took 18. In October of 2021, they hit the road, starting the trip in Virginia. The first year on the road, they traveled South, down to Florida and west until they hit Texarkana, before looping up north to Tennessee & Kentucky, up through West Virginia, and back home in time for summer weddings. They then made their way north, through New England, enjoying summer on the coast. September 10th of 2022, in Ogunquit Maine on the Marginal way, Andy asked Lauren to marry him, and she enthusiastically said yes. They spent that fall enjoying the foliage of Vermont & New Hampshire and made it back home for the holidays. They day after Christmas, they hit the road again, driving 20 hours across two days on their way to Texas! 2023 was spent driving across the Southwest, making a stop in LA to see family, then looping up through Nevada, Utah, and Colorado. After almost two years on the road, and an upcoming wedding, they decided to skip their plans of driving North & West, and instead crossed the plains states of Kansas & Oklahoma, and tackled Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio. After 2 years, 36 states, and 43 National Parks..living out of an 80 sq ft tin can, Andy & Lauren decided it was time to take a bit of break (and knew they needed to plan this wedding - the venue had been booked after all). They found a dream home in Beacon, NY, and have enjoying exploring their new home town ever since. We are so grateful to have you all here to celebrate our adventures past and this new chapter to come!
