Amenze’s POV: In 2013, I graduated from UMass Amherst and I was too ready to live my best life. The night before my graduation party, I went to a concert at Russell Auditorium with a few of my friends. The headliner of the show was a pretty big Dancehall artist at the time (IYKYK) so we knew it was gonna be a great night. When the main act came on, he was joined by another artist, and this artist performed as the hype man for the whole set. Now while every single female was going crazy for the headliner, I was busy trying to make eye contact with the hype man and convince him to fall in love at first sight. Lol idk what it was, but he was just DOING IT for me that night. When the show ended, the let out was on full tilt and my girls were dead set on getting the invite to chill with the artists at their hotel. Now I was down for the get down, but I’m more of a smooth operator. I’m real slick with mine and sneak up on you when you least expect it. So when I peeped that my girls had actually made their way to the hype man, I knew I had to pull up and seal the deal. I was standing to the side and as they were doing all the talking, I reached over and fixed a stray braid that was out of place (he had these little microbraids) on his head. That was the first time Nevada and I looked directly at each other. And as you can see, we never looked back. 💞
Nevada’s POV: Ah rite, So in 2013, I was on tour in the US. The 2nd stop was Boston. I was pretty excited bcuz it was my first time there. Did the show, it was great but at the end a bunch of girls were talking to me. And out of nowhere, this tall, thick & sexy body girl who was standing by herself came and put her hand in my head, rubbing my hair. That was the 1st time I saw Amenze and I definitely didn't want it to be the last time. So mi stepped to her introduced myself, “Hi my name is Nev” (she heard Jeff lol… but that’s a story for another time). We got to kick back and hold a vibes and got to know each other better. I had to leave to get to the next show and even though we exchanged numbers, I thought I was never going to see Amenze again. So I gave her a Jamaican $50 bill (🤦🏾♂️) and a beaded bracelet bcuz I just wanted to give her something to remind her of me. But we actually kept in contact and I learned we had a lot of the same interests. She was so BUMBOCLAAT smart, cool & down to earth. I really wanted to see her again so I invited her to the shows in states close to MA and she ended up coming to see me in two different cities. We were just two young people having fun and enjoying life. We had no idea it would lead us here..
